Urban Scenic Public Seawolves Nature Outdoors

The University of Alaska Anchorage is the state’s largest and most urban college, enjoying a location that offers the unique opportunities and resources of a major metropolitan area on the edge of America’s last frontier. Neighboring multiple other colleges and healthcare facilities, UAA occupies a section of the city commonly known as the University Medical District, about four miles from Downtown. The campus is within a short walk of several large public parks, including Campbell Park and Lake Goose Park, which leads into a greenbelt connecting the university to Downtown Anchorage. The city offers the best of both urban living and outdoor action, with Downtown serving up world-class shopping, dining, entertainment, and nightlife and the half-million-acre Chugach State Park sitting just minutes from the university. The neighborhoods near the west side of campus offer lots of options for living arrangements, from quiet suburban houses to budget-friendly apartments, many providing convenient walking access to both the major university buildings and the shopping centers farther west.
