North Mayfair - Chicago, IL Area Guide

In 2006, the National Register of Historic Places added North Mayfair to its roster, due to the large number of brick bungalow homes in the Far North Side Chicago, Illinois neighborhood. Houses and condos for rent near West Lawrence Avenue provide easy access to the Mayfair branch of the public library, and to public transportation and roadways for quick commutes to the Loop, 10 miles southeast. North Mayfair saw Marie's Pizza open in 1940, and locals still flock to the iconic neighborhood restaurant for hot pizza pies, cold beverages, and live music. Residents socialize at city park facilities, including North Mayfair Playlot Park for picnics and Gompers Park for fishing from the pier and along the Chicago River. Other amenities at this 39-acre park include tennis and basketball courts, football and baseball fields, an outdoor pool, and an area for roller-hockey skating.
