You'll find Midway on the east side of downtown between Ash Street and South Citrus Avenue. Travel a few blocks west to visit the California Center for the Arts, Escondido or to go shopping downtown along Grand Avenue. The Midway neighborhood has easy access to I-15, which leads to San Diego, 33 miles south. Take Washington Avenue to Highway 78 to reach the California coast, roughly 20 miles away. When you prefer to hike or go horseback riding in the mountains, head just 12 miles east to Hellhole Canyon Preserve or 20 miles to Cleveland National Forest. But while so much is easily accessible from Midway, you may find that you're perfectly happy to stay in your neighborhood -- several shopping centers, including the Vineyard Shopping Center and Trafalgar Square Shopping Center, provide everything from supermarkets to craft shops. Restaurants are also plentiful, ranging from coffee shops like Starbucks to local treasures like Mirin Café.
