Just two miles southeast of downtown Fort Myers, Metro Park provides a neighborhood dotted with lakes and filled with palm trees. Winkler Avenue and Metro Parkway form the major roadways, intersecting in the heart of the neighborhood. With Fort Myers Beach less than 15 miles southwest, Metro Park is terrific for those who enjoy beachcombing, swimming, surfing, fishing, and boating. The very popular Sanibel Island is just 20 miles away. This island, along with neighboring Captiva, are famous for shelling. If you choose to rent an apartment in Metro Park, you'll be able to enjoy everything Fort Myers offers, including the popular Edison Mall, just outside the neighborhood off Winkler Avenue, area golf courses, and downtown attractions like the historic Florida Repertory Theatre and the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. This beautiful site includes the winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Edison purchased his home first, and Ford, a close friend, later purchased the home next door. Visitors enjoy 20 acres of historic buildings and gardens as well as the Edison Ford Museum and the Edison Botanic Research Lab.
