It's a nice place to be for families or people who want a quiet life. I, a senior in high school feel overall pretty safe. For people who want to go out every night will have to get a bit creative over time, but being close to MSU helps with that aspect.

Very safe area, excellent schools, great amenities, good roads. Great place to raise a family. With the new development going up on Hamilton, The Village of Okemos, will have even more appealing food/drink/entertainment options.

Honestly, I hate it here. I've lived here my whole life and I plan to go out-of-state for college next year. The town just seems dead and haunted. It's a shell of what it once was. Its one redeeming factor is its public school system. The school system is phenomenal and the main downside is how competitive it can be, but if you know where to avoid at school, you can stay away from mentally draining kids.

The residential neighborhoods are nice and you will find families of all ages residing there. The schools are very good and challenging. The town is not much of a looker but a nice place to raise a family.
