True to its name, Marina Faire is nestled along the San Francisco Bay about three miles away from Old San Leandro, the city’s downtown district. Marina Faire attracts residents and visitors alike for its bayfront golf courses like Monarch Bay Golf Club and Marina Park, a 30-acre park with trails and barbecue pits. There are only a few restaurants and business parks in Marina Faire, but residents don’t have to go far for what they need since the neighborhood is near some of the city’s biggest shopping plazas and malls including West Gate San Leandro, Marina Square Center, and Bayfair Center. Interstate 880 allows for travel into Oakland, Berkeley, and other Bay Area cities while Oakland International Airport, just four miles away, makes out-of-state trips easy. The area is fine. It isn't terrible but nothing really pops either. It is a nice place to live and I might live here again depending on circumstances. Hopefully in the future the community will be more close knit, otherwise it will probably stay the same.
