Take I-77 from Downtown Cleveland and you’ll arrive in Independence in about 15 minutes. This suburban city provides more than easy commutes, however. Independence borders Cuyahoga Valley National Park, a 32,572-acre park that includes the historic Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath, a hiking trail that follows the historic route of the canal built between 1825 and 1832.
