Haleyville is nestled between Bear Creek and Bankhead National Forest in the northwest corner of Alabama. Home of the first 9-1-1 emergency telephone system in the country, Haleyville is a close-knit community proximate to the natural beauty of Alabama. There are affordable apartments, but most residents rent single-family homes here. 11th Avenue houses a few restaurants and grocery stores, as well as the historic Teal Professional Buildings.
Just to the east of Haleyville sits Bankhead National Forest, a sprawling public recreational area with hiking trails, off-road trails, campgrounds, and more. Birmingham is a little less than an hours’ drive to the southeast, so it’s easy to head into the big city for a day or weekend trip.
