Nestled alongside the Mississippi River, Godfrey is a tranquil suburban community situated about 27 miles north of Saint Louis, Missouri. Godfrey is one of the newest municipalities in Illinois, with the community voting to officially incorporate as a village in 1991.
In addition to being one of Illinois’ newest municipalities, Godfrey is also one of the state’s largest, spanning more than 36 square miles. Godfrey is a predominantly residential community, offering an array of apartments, townhomes, and houses for rent in a scenic locale.
Godfrey’s vast expanses of green space and overall natural beauty contribute to the village’s peaceful atmosphere. Opportunities for outdoor recreation are plentiful, from playing soccer at Glazebrook Park to hiking riverside trails at John M. Olin Nature Preserve. Lewis and Clark Community College provides excellent educational opportunities while nearby Alton Square Mall supplies great shopping options for the Godfrey community.
