I have been living in Eastside Tacoma for most of my life and I would say that eastside is not really a safe area to be in. There is a major homelessness problem in the neighborhood. However, some of the parks are nice to be at with family and friends. The people do tend to keep to themselves but are friendly once you get to talk to them.

I love the home that I am in but I do not like the area. The children are very noisy and disrespectful. The parents are loud and do not pay attention to what the children are doing. There is no local grocery store and no gas station within the area. I see lots of improvement in the future for this area if everyone does their job. The crime rate is getting worse because of the outsiders that come into the area. I would rather live in another part of the world like Canada.

Police aren't very responsive to certain areas here. I live in a lower class area and they aren't much help showing up after an hour. But they don't seem to be tardy when pulling people over or hassling the homeless.

I'm originally from San Diego, California, and the culture there is completely different than the culture here. Tacoma is not a place for people in their twenties, it's a place to come back to once you've settled down and can enjoy a more subtle night life with minimum career opportunities. I'm an adventurous and creative person, so I have not hit that settle down stage yet and I'm not sure I ever will. I may come back to Washington when I'm older, but not to Tacoma. I just love the scenery and the weather.
