Set among the rolling green hills of Pennsylvania, East York holds a proud spot among the Keystone State's historic areas. The East York Historic District contains more than 300 structures dating back to 1903. East York's Colonial Revival, Prairie, and Tudor homes set along quiet, tree-lined streets make quite the scenic picture. The neighborhood's location – minutes from Downtown York and just 26 miles south of Harrisburg via Interstate 83 – has East York apartments getting snapped up fast. Most apartment listings remain relatively affordable, however.

Sometimes I feel stuck, other times I'm so glad I'm here. There's always employment opportunities, this area houses the Wellspan medical group which has hundreds of fields available. The area also has a strong historical background and a fair seat in government. They're currently working on making the area more easily traversed.

I feel very safe in my neighborhood. I feel like the police are there when you need them, but they don't necessarily have a huge presence. The only time I really see the police, in fact, is when they are sitting looking for speeders. Even though the police aren't seen very often, I still feel safe in my neighborhood because not much crime happens at all.

It's good for average, middle class people. It's also a decent city to raise a family in. I plan on moving to a large metropolitan city, so living here long term is not for me.
