East Longmeadow, MA Area Guide

Around the turn of the century, workers from Sweden -- many previously employed in Connecticut -- arrived to work the local brownstone quarries, joined by people from France and Italy who helped shape the community's early past. One tangible reminder still stands: The Depot at Graham Central Station, a coffee and ice cream shop operating out of an 1870s train depot. The town's annual Fourth of July Parade has grown into one of the largest celebrations of its kind in Western Massachusetts, and the Rotary Club's summer concert series has been a community staple since the 1980s.

Center Square Grill, tucked inside the Cape Cod-inspired Center Square Plaza, is one of the town's standout dining spots. Springfield's Forest Park is only minutes away. Fall foliage across the region is genuinely spectacular, and the East Longmeadow Recreation Department keeps sports leagues running throughout the year.

Center Square Plaza anchors the town center with its distinctive Cape Cod-inspired architecture, bringing together small businesses, cafes, and restaurants in a walkable setting. East Longmeadow Center Village and Shaker Shops add more local retail variety within a short drive.

North Main Street handles the practical side of things. Big Y, a Springfield-based supermarket known for New England-grown produce, anchors the corridor, with HomeGoods and additional chain retailers filling out the stretch. Frigo's Gourmet Foods and La Fiorentina Pastry Shop bring specialty Italian food shopping into the mix.

East Longmeadow pairs small-town New England atmosphere with easy access to Springfield and Hartford, anchored by community traditions like the Fourth of July Parade, the Rotary Club summer concert series, and the October Celebrate East Longmeadow fall festival.
