Capitol View is a neighborhood about a mile-and-a-half west of Downtown Des Moines. Nestled along the Des Moines River, Capitol view offers great opportunities for outdoor recreation and there are several parks in the neighborhood. Residents flock to Pete Crivaro Park for summer barbecues and pool days while the John Pat Dorrian Trail offers riverside views for bikers and joggers. The neighborhood feels urban, housing light industry companies and warehouses along with a few small businesses. Since Capitol View is dominated by residences and business, many residents head north to the East Village for more dining, shopping, and entertainment options. Residents also frequent Downtown Des Moines, which is less than 10 minutes away. There are mid-range and upscale rentals in this area, but Capitol View is known for its chic, loft-style apartments.
