The Buck Lake neighborhood begins along Capital Circle and extends east, following Buck Lake Road to Chaires Cross Road. The neighborhood touches several lakes: its namesake Buck Lake, Upper Lake Lafayette, Piney Z Lake, and Lake Lafayette. The neighborhood is also home to two popular parks. JR Alford Greenway covers more than 800 acres of trails, ideal for horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking. Lake Lafayette is home to Lafayette Heritage Trail Park and Tom Brown Park. These parks provide areas for fishing, bicycling, hiking, and kayaking. The parks also offer picnic areas, playgrounds, and a trailhead. Buck Lake is directly east of Downtown Tallahassee and minutes from Florida State University, Cascades Park, and the historic Goodwood Museum and Gardens.
