Bridgeport is a borough 37 minutes away from Philly. This small, intimate community has good schools. The area has three parks for residents to enjoy, complete with playing fields, a running track, picnic facilities, and tennis and basketball courts. Since the town is nestled beside the Schuylkill River, the Upper Marion Boat House Park on the edge of town is extremely popular. The riverside park is excellent for fishing and kayaking. Valley Forge National Historical Park, 15 minutes away, is another recreation hotspot for Bridgeport locals. Here you can tour George Washington’s headquarters and the winter encampment of the Continental Army. The area is also great for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
After a long day of enjoying nature, recharge at the one of the tasty family-owned restaurants in town. Suzy-Jo Donuts is a hometown favorite and many believe the spot serves the best doughnuts in town. Bridgeport Rib House sells juicy late-night barbecue alongside happy hour drinks and live music.
Bridgeport believes in the power of living a slower paced life so the community is quiet most of the year. One of the biggest events of the year is the Bridgeport Carnival, five days of rides, entertainment, and classic fair food vendors.
