Located about 10 miles south of Redding and across the Sacramento River from Redding Municipal Airport, Anderson provides the beauty of northern California with fast access to the larger city via the Cascade Wonderland Highway. Anderson's crown jewel, Anderson River Park, offers spectacular river views, a boat ramp, paved walkways, hiking trails, a disc golf course, a playground, and picnic areas. Anderson is home to the Shasta District Fair and Event Center. The fair, held in June, attracts more than 75,000 visitors and includes a carnival, arts and crafts, livestock exhibits, and entertainment. The Event Center also hosts trade shows and other events.

Local attractions in Anderson include the Anderson Historical Society and Museum, which includes the 1890s Frisbie House and a one-room schoolhouse dating from around 1900. Anderson is part of California's Shasta Cascade region, a beautiful area filled with fantastic outdoor adventures, from canoeing and fishing to caving and rock climbing. Be sure to visit the nearby Lake Shasta Caverns National Natural Landmark, the Sundial Bridge in nearby Redding, and Lassen Volcanic National Park. For those who prefer shopping, Center Street is lined with shops, restaurants, and other businesses. More shops and a movie theater are available off Rhonda Road.
