River North is perhaps the most stylish section of Chicago, and that’s no small accomplishment. This neighborhood features a truly staggering array of art galleries and a cutting-edge design district, making it a magnet for locals who are passionate about the visual arts.
The dining and nightlife scenes are just as diverse and exquisite as the local arts community, with a massive assortment of restaurants, bars, and clubs catering to every taste. The tech sector is well represented here and attracts local professionals, with major companies like Google operating regional headquarters in River North.
The landscape is a treasure trove of architecture, featuring many well-preserved historic buildings well over a century old alongside midcentury masterpieces and ultra-modern skyscrapers. The Magnificent Mile runs along the east side of the neighborhood, and Downtown is right across the river. Residents pay a premium to live here, but most agree it’s well worth the price tag.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The 808 Cleveland
Jarvis gave a great tour and was a big reason we signed our lease!

You could not pick a worse building to live in. Two weeks ago there was gun fire right outside the front door. Almost every night the community behind the apartment lets off fireworks throughout the night, and in the summer they are out partying til 4 am. On top of that management will come with you for random fees toward the end of your lease with no explanation. Additionally, if you enjoy being on one of the loudest streets in the city you found your place. Hot tub closed all winter (makes zero sense).
Property Manager at The 808 Cleveland, Responded To This Review
We’re sorry to hear about your experience. Safety and comfort are top priorities, and we’re working with local authorities to address neighborhood disturbances. While some city noise is unavoidable, we’re always happy to clarify any charges—please reach out directly. The hot tub was closed in winter to avoid any freezing issues due to the harsh temperatures in the winter, but we understand the frustration and are working to improve amenity access. Thank you for your feedback. Brad Hoff Property Manager

I just moved into this awesome apartment in a beautiful area of Chicago! The apartment is super modern and has all new appliances. I love the big windows that let in so much natural light. The amenities are top-notch, and the staff is super friendly. It’s also within walking distance of so many restaurants, parks, and bars, and it's a quick walk to the subway station! Everyone here seems really welcoming. Would highly recommend!

Don’t move here. I moved in March 2024 and feels like a bait and switch. If you’re reading the reviews the 5 stars are from folks who took the tour, and the one stars are from people who live here. One thing I wasn’t told when I moved in is that there are third-party rentals in this building. Something called Home2Suites and also Airbnbs. The building also have apartments where each room is rented out individual which causes more inconsistency of folks. I was also told you can’t hear your upstairs neighbor because the ceilings are cement. That’s a lie - I hear my neighbor walking all the time and I can hear the person on the other side of the wall opening their door, closing their drawers and sometimes talking. Overall - this building is not well managed. There is only one building manager. The building has been through 2 assistant managers in the 3 months I’ve been here. Every support person is outsourced so maintenance leaves at 3pm. I’ve only seen one cleaning person and it feels that way because the common areas are half-cleaned, the outside areas are never cleaned. The TV room doesn’t have a trash can. No one cleans on the weekend, so if there’s a mess - it just sits there until Monday. Outside the grills are sticky. No one resets the areas and trash just stays around. People bring their pets outside and it ruins the area for people to lay out. Quiet hours are supposed to start at 11pm, but they don’t lock the outside area so people are out there all night and I can hear them all the way on the 13th floor. The pool was delayed opening due to broken pieces and now that’s it’s open the water is murky. Pools have to be cleaned every morning and there’s no one to do it. And the hot tub in is cold with dead bugs floating in it. The gym is visibly dirty - it’s gross to do stretching next to strands of hair. The wipes are dried out and no one replaces them. I’m in an ADA apartment and the shower door was improperly placed so there’s a pool of water whenever I shower and if I try to clean the shower door while it’s closed, my bathroom is flooded. Been waiting on a fix since I moved in. Packages - wild Wild West. Sometimes the delivery people will place in a locker and sometimes they won’t. There’s also a package room for larger items but your code won’t tell you it’s there and if you try to input the code, it will come up inactive. The front desk folks keep rotating so they are no help. If I could go back and not move here at all I would.

This place is a total disaster. The low-income buildings across the street are always blasting music, and right now, it's almost midnight, and my windows are vibrating from the noise. Seriously, if you're thinking about renting here, don't do it! You'll regret it big time. Save yourself the trouble and find a quieter spot to call home.
