Property Ratings at Union at the Grove
Not recommended. I’ve lived here (Marshall building) since the beginning and have had ongoing issues with management. The biggest problem was constant loud banging from a mentally unstable tenant for months. Despite multiple complaints from me and others, management didn’t take action until much later (took 2-3 at least before they evicted this person) — only after things escalated. Other late-night disturbances and shady individuals getting into the building were also ignored. I also dealt with a noisy neighbor whose dog barked all night. My emails and calls about it were ignored for days until to point where corporate had to be the one to respond to it. Only when that tenant moved did the noise finally stop. The building itself is also not maintained. The front door constantly malfunctions — often not letting you get in or not opening properly — and this has gone unresolved for a long time. I’ve also started noticing a few pests like spiders and silverfish in the unit for the first time. Months ago, I requested that they spray, and management never followed up or took care of it. The elevator is always down, multiple times since being here. It’s been several days and they haven’t even bothered. We have valet trash we pay for; however, my trash just sits there for days before getting taken out. Most frustrating was during lease renewal. I told the leasing agent I might stay if they could offer one free month. He said he’d talk to corporate and get back to me — but I never heard back. Weeks later, I had to follow up myself, and was told there had been a $500 renewal offer sent by email. I never received it (likely went to junk), and they refused to honor it. Then landlord clarified it wasn’t even $500 — it was only $250. Yet I was still blamed for missing it, even though I was the one waiting on their promised follow-up. Rent was also increased significantly with no loyalty incentive. The staff just doesn’t seem to care or take complaints seriously. Also concerning — I noticed that another negative review (posted just a few weeks before mine) has already been deleted. If honest reviews are being removed, that’s misleading to potential tenants and paints a false picture of the living experience here. sadly, I did not look for place in time and I got stuck here longer. However, I’ll be leaving as soon as I can. I would not recommend this place. Don’t let the good reviews fool you, most positive reviews were clearly given in exchange for incentives.
