City - Cincinnati

As one of the oldest cities in the United States west of the Appalachians, Cincinnati offers residents contemporary urban living in a historic, distinctive setting. One of the oldest cities in the US houses an influential youth culture. Students, professionals, artists, and musicians of all walks of life come to the southwest corner of Ohio to live and work. College and professional sports are wildly popular, with the Bearcats of the University of Cincinnati, the Reds, and the Bengals enjoying huge fan bases in their hometown.

Renters and visitors alike will delight in attractions like the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Newport Aquarium, and the city’s iconic zoo. The annual Oktoberfest is one of the biggest celebrations of its kind outside of Munich, drawing thousands to the streets to celebrate the city’s German heritage.

There's so much better out there

Location is decent, but rooms are poorly maintained. Dealt with black mold in 2/3 bedrooms and also the living room with no reimbursement. Couch and bed were ruined. If you end up living here and actually get your package when it's delivered, go ahead and get a lottery ticket too.

7/31/23
Do not move here -- it was the worst apartment we've ever lived in

Would give 0 stars if I could. Issues with The Drexel: 1) you will be nickel'd and dime'd to death. The force you to pay for cable, for trash pickup outside your apartment (only 1 bag/pickup, so families of 2+, good luck!), and you also pay outrageous prices for trash/recycling. We've moved to a house that is quite larger than our apartment, and we pay less on all of our utilities in our *house* than we did at the Drexel. 2) the facilities are disgusting. Sure, the apartments are (fake) luxury (slapped together very cheaply). But the grounds/hallways are nasty. Dog pee/poop constantly in the hallways, elevators, etc. Dog poop cans are never emptied. 3) The place is in awful shape. Maintenance does the best they can, but they are overworked for what is a falling-apart complex. To be specific, these are all the issues we had at move-in: - water leaked out the back of one of our toilets, maintenance NEVER fixed it. Eventually my father-in-law fixed it. - the dryer wouldn't turn on and it took them weeks to get a part in, meaning we used a laundromat in the meantime. - Oven was extremely dirty upon move-in and was never cleaned, even after we told management about it - did not receive mail keys until after a week of living there - our bedroom fan did not function - garbage disposal was not working for the first week - smoke detector in the main bedroom chirped, and we couldn't reset it, and it wasn't fixed for days meaning we didn't sleep for days - towel rack was not screwed into the drywall with anchors and came right off the wall - our closet collapsed storage system collapsed after hanging just a few items; again, screwed into drywall with no anchors - half (yes, literally half, we counted) of our electrical sockets did not work. This is all JUST from move-in. Believe me, we had 10+ other problems in our 9 months of living there, including the dead bolt lock on our door breaking, not allowing us to EXIT OUR APARTMENT. Maintenance had to come through our window to get us out. And, our washer broke mid-cycle and our clothes were sopping wet, and we had to go to a laundromat at 10pm to re-wash them. Moving out was the happiest day of our lives. There are so many other issues I could list, but this should be enough to scare you away. You're better off in a small apartment building run by someone local.

Not a gated community

The Drexel at Oakley is advertised as a safe, gated community. However, the doors and gates are broken and do not work. The staff is aware and is not willing to fix the issue.

11/3/22
WORST APARTMENT AND MANAGEMENT

I hope you like living in mold. This apartment is covered in mold. The staff will clean the mold and claim to lose your mold test to hide evidence. Get ready for your appliances to be broken for weeks-months before they are properly fixed. Trash smells and bugs consume the hallway. Management is completely disrespectful. Hate helping people. Living here was a weekly headache. Every resident I speak with has a laundry list of complaints. Would never recommend this apartment to anyone. This apartment must be deleting reviews or offering some special for any positive review.

6/22/22
Worst move in experience

When we toured the drexel at oakley we were told by the leasing staff that all the appartments have flooring and not carpet in the living room. Well today is move in day and not only did we have to wait hours for the key (after driving over 7 hours) but the appartment has carpeting. Do not lease with them, they are not trustworthy or responsible.

11/4/21
Complete Waste of Money

I’m not usually the one to write reviews, especially bad ones, but I feel like people need to be warned. From the day I moved up here, The Drexel has done nothing but give me headaches. If you’re considering moving here, I’d encourage you to think twice. As a matter of fact, RUN. I should have thought twice about picking up my keys when after driving for three days from Texas to Cincinnati I was met by the staff at Drexel with a form that prevented me from terminating my lease early. That typically wouldn’t be a problem, however, I had no knowledge of needing to fill out such a form, and in fact, was told previously I had completed all of the necessary paperwork and was approved for move-in. Not to mention the fact that I’m a contractor and management knew that when I filled out my application. I’m not sure that I know of a more conning scheme than to have someone move across the country only to show up on the day of their scheduled move-in with movers, dogs, and a u-haul before forcing them to sign such a form or not receive their keys. That should be all of the information you need to make an educated decision about the type of place you’re considering moving into. They care about one thing and one thing only; your money. Once they have that it’s all downhill from there. If you’re still not convinced, I’ll gladly leave a list below of a couple of the things you can expect to look forward to when leasing at The Drexel. Don’t say you weren’t warned. 1) You can expect to wait 3-11 weeks for any sort of maintenance request. My bathroom sink was broken when I moved in and it took roughly 3 months to get someone out to fix it. I ruined several towels just to keep the water contained while I waited for maintenance. 2) The hallways are FILLED with bugs. Some living, some dead, and they are everywhere. It’s disgusting, and for the money we’re paying you’d think someone would be in charge of cleaning that once a quarter at the very least. Expect to see them in your apartment as well because there are cracks between the floor and the wall at least a half-inch thick.

2/24/21
EMERGENCY!!!

Randomly drove by and decided to see if they had any vacancies. Was warmly greeted by Tommy and his friendly team. Was able to get a tour on the spot! Was sold even before we signed the contract. And Tommy 'gifted' us with our first housewarming present before move-in day. The whole application process was smooth and painless. The grounds were clean and the environment is peaceful. Could not ask for a better place to call home.

great place

This Apartment complex is amazing. It is a gorgeous place to wake up to every morning. The other residents are such warm and wonderful people. The staff and maintenance are very helpful and always kind.

Everything is great - but moving in and moving out is a challenge due to lack of truck access and lack of elevators.

I really liked it. The apartment was well maintained for the price. I would have liked some upgrades or higher end finishes and I would have been willing to pay for them.

I think the... (Verified Renter)

I think the overall apartment complex was immaculate. The grounds were maintained beautifully and the office staff were the nicest people I could have hoped for. If my recommendation was based on the apartment itself, it would be a solid 10. However, I have to take into consideration that you're asking about the "community". I would not recommend this complex to people that are new in the area as the tenants of this community were the most cold and unfriendly that I've ever encountered. Granted, that's not something one can easily screen for in potential tenants, but I'm just being honest.

I think the apartment has a great location with lots of amenities and perks that are offered at other apartments.

8/5/17
The common areas... (Verified Renter)

The common areas like Hallways have never been cleaned or washed, therefore you continually have dirt tracked in unnecessarily. If they were washed or cleaned once a month would be a big help. I have seen the same dirt for months

6/30/17
The Drexel is... (Verified Renter)

The Drexel is a great place to live. The staff, including maintenance, are always very friendly and responsive. The only reason I do not rate the experience a '10' is the configuration of the apartments and the parking garage make moving in or out a true nightmare.

6/2/17

I enjoy living at the Drexel and love my apartment, so I would recommend based on this. However, I wouldn't recommend it for everyone due to the cost of rent.

I enjoyed the year at the Drexel. The rent we paid was pretty cheap compared to other complexes like it in the area. I know the pricing system fluctuates here though & I think we were on the low end.

Awesome location and nice apartments, but too high of a price. I would rather be in a bigger apartment, but can't justify spending so much for it. However, I'm still living there so I can't complain too much.
