The staff are always professional and friendly. The maintenance and cleaning staff are seen daily cleaning the buildings and communal spaces. My only suggestion would be to place no pet signs on all doors leading to common areas where pets are not allowed.

This building needs to do a better job in assisting its residents in resolving their stolen packages. There is a camera directly in front of the package shelf that can monitor all packages, as well as people who enter. We have had three packages stolen (we've only lived here for 7 months) and when asked for the tape, the mgmt office flatly refused, citing it's "corporate policy" and if we needed the tape, we had to file a police report AND ask the officer to come to the building. But that's only at the officers' discretion. This apt complex does NOT help you in any way if your packages are stolen, just be aware of that.

If you’re not actually going to be available until 6, change your listed hours. I keep talking to other neighbors and we are all frustrated that the leasing office seems to be closed an hour or more before 6, the listed closing time. Also yall need a better plan for lock outs. These key fobs are awful

I have lived here almost a year and love it. I barely submit maintenance requests and when I do, they are resolved quickly and smooth. I also barely have to visit the office but again, a breeze when I do.

I've been living here for 2 years. The faculty and staff and very friendly. The parking is easy and ammenities are nice. The only problem is the B building doesn't have a secure mail closet or room and packages get stolen A lot!

My experience at 4st East has been a story of two buildings. When I moved in, the amenities were a major selling point. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. The building is in a noticeable state of decline. The hallways have stained, smelly carpets. The trash chutes are frequently out of order, and the common area TVs haven't worked in months. Key amenities like the poolside kitchen sink is broken the handle falls at the slightest touch and grills are dirty and seemingly ignored. The hallway walls are also showing significant wear and cupping. It's a shame to see a once-great building fall into such disrepair. I hope management invests in the necessary maintenance soon.

The move in process was very easy and the staff was great with getting set up with the loading dock. Love that the gym is open 24/. Also numerous food options in the surrounding area.

I moved across the country for work, never saw this place in person til the day I flew here and got my keys. Very thankful to love my home and hope to live here for awhile. As long as the price doesn't skyrocket, I will be renewing 10000%. Love the neighborhood, buildings, and secure parking. Regarding the TVs, we're actively working on getting them repaired. Our cable provider is scheduled to come out next week to inspect them and take care of the issue. As for the pet odors, we are aware of the concern and are addressing it by power washing the sidewalks daily. Additionally, we are in the process of moving the pet relief area to the back side of the building on 5th Street. We hope this will help alleviate future issues with smells in the common areas. In terms of the planters, we agree that they would enhance the building’s appearance. They are scheduled to be installed in April. We’re excited for this addition to the community and believe it will make a great difference. The garage door was recently replaced in January, and since then, it has been functioning well. However, if you are noticing any issues, please don’t hesitate to let us know, and we will make sure it’s inspected right away. Finally, we weren’t aware of any concerns with the Jackson Street elevator, but we take your safety seriously. Staff don’t seem to know how to solve problems. Maintenance takes up to 4 days to solve issues. Little to no communication from management. It’s so confusing figuring financial situations and new information. If you go to visit them to work out an issue in person or ask about a weird charge, most likely no one will be in the office despite being during operating hours. Management promises to fix issues with no follow up. You need to follow up. Security is hard to reach for issues and is not always present. I informed them of an unmarked car in the parking lot, car was removed after 3-4 days. No community events. It looks great on the outside. Living here is a very different story. Don’t let the amenities fool you into signing a lease. We have had issues from day 1 with management. Very happy for our lease to be over soon!

As a new resident relocating from the East Coast, my experience with Fourth Street has been disappointing. The property appears to be understaffed, which is reflected in the service provided to residents. For instance, it took several days to receive the key to my mailbox, which was not provided upon move-in. Additionally, there are still unresolved issues with fixtures in my apartment, despite multiple visits from maintenance staff who have yet to make any progress.

I love this building. It’s always clean and everyone is fairly friendly. My only issue is the parking garage situation. Gate is damaged, incidents have occurred and high price for parking.

Packages are constantly stolen, our cars have been broken into multiple times, the garage door is always broken, our neighbors' apartment have been broken into, and we have not had a working dishwasher in two weeks with no follow-up after the initial maintenance request.

We received the keys to our new apartment and were shocked at the state in which we received it. The apartment was filthy and was not cleaned before it was passed over to us. We complained and someone was sent to clean the apartment delaying our move in a few days. We thought this was a one off situation so we brushed it off. We later found out from other tenants that they received their apartment in the same condition. The elevator at the Jackson Street entrance is constantly out of order and you are unable to access the parking garage through the back stairwell. There were also multiple occasions when the garage door was broken and remained open 24/7. My boyfriend’s Harley was vandalized within the parking garage due to inadequate security measures. We decided to end our lease and vacate the building after a little over two years. We scheduled a pre-move out inspection, a final inspection, and had the apartment thoroughly cleaned prior to our move out date. No one bothered to show up to our scheduled pre-move out inspection and no one would have showed up to the scheduled final inspection if I didn’t follow up with the leasing office after an hour of waiting around. The property manager was not available for the scheduled time slot so someone unqualified to make the proper assessment was sent in their place. We later received an invoice in the mail saying we owed money in addition to our deposit for cleaning and repainting the entire apartment. The apartment was spotless when we left it and there were no damages or need for repairs outside of normal wear and tear. The charges are unfounded and we are still in the process of disputing these charges three months later. Our assigned parking spot was also reassigned to another tenant prior to the end of our lease. Ultimately, these issues are a result of poor management and I would not recommend leasing an apartment within this complex. It really is a shame since the building has great amenities and it is in a great location.

Packages are being stolen again on a regular basis. We notify the staff and are told the following: they don't care and refuse to accept packages for residents; contact the carrier ( carrier provides proof of delivery photos so they won't reship) and yes they have cameras in the mail areas but flat out refuse to use them or do anything about it. Security was posted in the area for a few months last year and we didn't have nearly as many there's but now that that's over, the stealing is constant. Mind you, the thieves (aka fellow residents) are stealing packages from the locked mailroom in building A and again manages refuses to do anything. Only FSE has this issue so I would recommend going to another apartment building nearby as they all have either doorman or security posted to negate package theft.

I’ll keep this brief: take your money elsewhere. Once you sign your lease-prepare to be ignored by management. Simple inquiries are left unanswered. Package theft is rampant here and has been for a while. I’ve never experienced anything like it and the company does nothing besides say it’s not their responsibility. The walls seem to have no insulation so you will be disturbed by surrounding tenants. Lots of smoke in the hallways that will enter your unit. Ledger fees don’t add up and don’t expect a clear explanation. And they keep your deposit even though you’re told not to clean the apartment at move out. I could go on but I won’t. Overall a terrible experience.

Fourth Street East is a hip community in the heart of Jack London Square minutes away from the Oakland nightlife, with many neighboring dining options. The amenities spaces are nice and kept clean, my unit is nice and spacious, and you can’t hear your neighbors, but only the sounds of cars driving on the freeway.

We have been living at Fourth Street East since it opened in 2019. We have actually lived in two different units and loved both. The staff is always great and supportive, and the new management team is great. Also to note, the amenities are the best in the area and very well maintained.
I fell lucky to live in this building. Everything is fantastic, neighborhood, staff, services. If you are looking for an apartment with excellent service, and super comfortable, fourth street East is the answer!

We have had a wonderful time living in the apartments. The apartment itself is modern, comfortable, and stylish. The only annoying thing is how sensitive the smoke detectors are when cooking because there isn’t much natural ventilation. To us, what justifies the rent are the amenities and the community. We loved the amenities, everything we needed to entertain or chill was right there. As time went on things seemed to feel worn down, but I think that has a lot to do with residents not always being mindful. It can be hard to meet people as adults but the events helped introduce us to our neighbors who became our friends. The community the complex creates is what makes this place stand out from all the other luxury buildings. Even people we meet in the neighborhood know this about 4th street, and they eventually move in too.

Do not be fooled by the words 'luxury apartments and the positive reviews - all referencing a leasing agent and most who haven't actually lived here. I've lived in the building for 1.5 years and it's filled with crime, parties, and messes. To start, don't expect to get a package if you live here. The packages are stolen over and over and management does absolutely nothing. Cameras were installed in the package room, and I literally had management tell me that they know who stole my package and can't do anything (Oakland PD won't either). Any other 'luxury' building would have packages collected in their office and held until they are signed out. Additionally, the building is a frat house. My floor constantly smells like weed and cigarettes, even though it's a non-smoking building. There is dog pee everywhere, broken glass, and more. Renters beware!
