Legacy is a wonderful place to live. The only negative is that the rent prices are too high and getting higher every year. Even though we've lived here for a period of about 15 years, our steady retirement incomes as retirees we will soon mean we will be priced out of our ability to reside here.

Absolutely love this community! Very quiet, with easy access to everything you need within 10 minutes or less. It took a few days for my pup to adjust of course, but she absolutely loves it here as well, especially with the grassy areas to sniff around and ample walking space. It’s a great place!

Avoid if you can

Been here 2, almost 3 years. All of our appliances are 10+ years old, NOT energy or water efficient at all but that doesn’t matter because they don’t work and won’t get replaced. Rent has gone up $400/month but I still have an apartment with a broken, mildew filled dishwasher, carpet tacks that stick out and poke your bare feet, mold in the single pane windows, and we’ve put in 4 maintenance requests for the dishwasher and do everything we can to help the smell but it won’t help and the water won’t drain out of the bottom. We can’t use it anymore because the smell on the dishes makes us gag. We put in a request 3 months ago to fix the carpet tacks. Still nothing. Our toilet keeps breaking. We have put in 4 or 5 noise complaints over time and sent in videos of a dog that barks around us for hours a day, even at times like midnight- 2am and the management office takes 30 days to reply to my emails just to tell me they can’t do anything about it. Parking sucks. I’m the lease it says you can only park your car in open spots for 5 days at a time, but there’s cars parked and left there for 4 months at a time. They say you need parking permits but cars without them are taking up spots all the time. We are stuck here because of the military and unable to afford to move within San Diego until our time here is up. I really wish we went somewhere else where I could go at least one night’s sleep without waking up from sneezing from the mold I have to constantly clean or wake up from a large barking dog.

I wouldn't recommend if noise was a big factor. There's not enough sound insulation for this to be comfortable in the long term. The scenery is very nice and the amenities are great, so if my friends and family wouldn't mind noise, then Id recommend.

The location of the community is ideal as it is centrally located from just about every daily necessity. The primary drawbacks of the community would be the return value against the rent paid. Many units need updating, particularly in terms of appliances and fixtures. The attitude of the maintenance staff could also be improved. At the time of completing this survey, I just interacted with the head of maintenance who was very short with me and borderline rude. I inquired about some noise and asked if work was being done in the unit below me and he responded with a very annoyed tone. I have previously interacted with him during some work in my unit and while he completed the task and was respectful, he was not particularly polite or pleasant.

Convenient Location/Spacious Apartment

I helped find my son an apartment at Legacy after searching many apartments. John, leasing agent, was very kind and helpful and made the leasing experience comfortable. He explained everything well and made sure the unit was in good condition before date of move-in and personally cleaned some things himself. The office management staff are friendly and professional. The unit is spacious with large windows and plenty of light. It even has a small laundry room inside. The grounds are nice and include a couple of pools, gym, tot lot, and nice landscaping. Only negatives are that complex is very close to freeway and parking is limited and difficult to have any parking available for guests.

We were here for 10 months and in those months over 5 packages were stolen, our mailbox was broken into twice and my car was keyed. There’s also no parking and none of our appliances worked even after being “fixed”.

Although my maintenance requests are always handled to my satisfaction the cleanliness outside my apartment is an issue. Pet owners from other buildings with large dogs bring their pets over to use the bathroom and leave their dogs feces in the grass area outside my apartment leaving an odor when I want to open my window or patio door. They also have feces throughout the grass area and it’s obvious by the size of the defect they are medium to large dogs.

When I moved in there was sticky stuff all over my counter tops, something that would've been noticed had someone just touched them during the inspection. I had to call multiple times to get it fixed. The fridge also smelled bad and when I called about that they had to take a price out and clean it because it wasn't done before I moved in. The washer and dryer is small and has ruined some of my clothes.

Gate has been broken twice within the year for several weeks at a time, homeless people going through dumpsters or hanging out within parking lot, 10am opening for office hours seems very late especially if something happens early in the morning. twice have had a black fluid/mold come up from my bathroom sink within the year, I was told it was from other pipes in other apartments. A maintenance man almost came in my door while I was home because he read the unit number wrong.
