North Atlanta refers to several communities in the northeastern stretches of Atlanta. Among these communities are Brookhaven, Chamblee, and Doraville. While each community has its own distinct flavor, all of them are largely suburban with vibrant stretches of commercial areas and tranquil residential neighborhoods clustered on tree-lined streets.
North Atlanta is accessible to the iconic Buford Highway, where delectable international restaurants and cafes abound, from Vietnamese fare to Colombian cuisine and everything in between. North Atlanta residents typically enjoy easy access to I-285 and I-85 as well as Marta’s Gold line.

Property Ratings at KRC Alderwood Trails
Our experience with KRC Alderwood Trails was overwhelmingly negative. We wasted over a month communicating with them, and did not sign for the apartment due to their incompetence. They were slow to approve our income, and it was difficult to get ahold of management as our rep was only in the office on alternating days. When we made requests or asked questions, everything had to be sent to a manager for approval, which took multiple days to get resolved. Furthermore, although we paid for a two-person application, management made no attempts during the first (rejected) phase of processing our application to contact the second party; apparently their income was irrelevant in the overall process, even though combined we made an amount more than proportionate to the rental cost. The worst aspect of trying to work with these people was their attitude. Even though we had paid for an application, and had ostensibly done everything possible to forward the process, they still treated us as replaceable every step of the way. When it came to approving our income, they did not do their due diligence and contact my employer, but turned us down without contacting them, or reaching out to us. After calling them back and asking them to reconsider, they spent another two weeks dragging their feet. At the end of that time, they approved us but told us to pay a $200 fee on their website within 48 hours. When I pulled up their website, it wasn’t showing the payment gateway they claimed would be accessible. They didn’t give us time to fix the problem with their website, and were slow to call me back within their own short ultimatum timeframe. They eventually gave us the service phone number for the software they use for online payments, but by then it was too late, and we were unable to fix the issue before their hard deadline. This was exceedingly frustrating, because it was a problem with their software, and thus not our fault. They took no responsibility, and brushed me aside when I pushed back. It was incredibly difficult trying to work with KRC Alderwood, and I would not recommend them. I was able to find another apartment within a week’s time (with clearly communicated expectations over email). After everything we experienced, we simply couldn’t trust there would be an apartment waiting for us at the end. I can only assume that their manager doesn’t see their applicants as working people with jobs, but as means of extracting more money out of potential tenants.
The rent goes up every year about $100 - betting that you won't want to move. They also liberally add extra fees and charges all the time - Moving the first opportunity I get.
Pro: Location - Close to the interstate, Doraville Marta station, and the Buford Highway Farmers' Market. Cons: Roaches - Many tenants in my building are constantly dealing with roaches. Maintenance - It is very difficult to get to get maintenance done unless you constantly contact management. Noise - The interstate is right next door and I can hear it in my living room. Over time I have adapted and do not notice the noise except during rush hour. Laundry room - The washers and dryers are always having some mechanical issue, and there is garbage, and debris everywhere. In addition, there has been extremely damp and slick floors. Grounds Maintenance - The parking lot is is poor shape, and parking spots are not clearly marked. Some times there is garbage and food discarded upon the ground that sits there for days. There was a court for playing sports at the back of the complex that is in horrible shape. Internet - Getting Cable internet is a nightmare. my apartment was not wired up properly it took slightly longer than a month working with comcast and the apartment complex to secure comcast cable. I had to contact both twice a week. I missed 4 days of work because of this. The DSL available for the complex is 1.5 megabits/sec which is very slow.
I love the location they are just lacking security. Otherwise I like the apartment and size of it. Rent is affordable.
Alderwood isn't a bad place to live. The residents keep to themselves, I've never had any problems with noise. The floor plan is great, there is a large storage closet and coat closet near the front door, and the bedroom closets are a good size as well. It's located in a very convenient place, right next to 85 and 285. This property has been bought and sold a few times in the last few years, and every year the new people raise the rent more than the year before. At $710 for a one bedroom, it's a decent price, but if it goes any higher I'll be moving. The apartments are out of date and the complex lacks any enticing amenities. The pool is small and the water is always cloudy, the gym is a joke, and the mailboxes are always broken or damaged. It's a great location, but for $700 to $800, there are nicer communities in the area.
I love the location they are just lacking security. Otherwise I like the apartment and size of it. Rent is affordable.
