Neighborhood

Commonly referred to as West Bank or Riverside, Cedar-Riverside has long been known as the artistic center of Minneapolis. The neighborhood attracted a slew of intellectuals, artists, actors, and musicians in the 1960s. That period of time earned this neighborhood the title of the Haight-Ashbury of the Midwest.

A couple of decades later, the open-minded culture of the neighborhood made it a welcoming place for an eclectic mix of residents, including students and creative types. Apartments have popped up along the western border formed by the I-94 and I-35W. There are cafes and restaurants on Riverside Ave., and attractive parks along the Mississippi River. The neighborhood celebrates its heritage and history annually at the Bohemian Flats Music Festival.

One of the best apartment locations I've seen!

I lived in Karinsplass Apartments for almost two years and very much enjoyed my stay there. I only moved out after finishing up a graduate program and searching for new work, else I would have stayed. The location is exceptional for anyone studying or working in a nearby university or business. It's on a major bus line and close to the Seward Co-op. The immediate area is pretty safe, though a few blocks west (outside of the university area) is less-so. Management was, by and large, professional and reliable to work with. Maintenance and move-in/out procedures were seamless. The only logistical difficulty I had was with package delivery: delivery may not occur if attempted outside the limited office hours. I once had to bus to the post office to retrieve a package that failed delivery too often. My unit was spacious and in great condition, just like you can see in the profile photos. A great value for the reasonable rent back then (2009-2011).
