Life in Des Moines combines city living with Midwestern hospitality. The city's climate-controlled skywalk system connects downtown buildings, making it easy to navigate the urban core year-round, while the Principal Riverwalk offers scenic pathways along the Des Moines River. Gray's Lake Park spans 167 acres with boat rentals and floating boardwalks, and art enthusiasts can explore the Des Moines Art Center or the Pappajohn Sculpture Park in Western Gateway. The East Village neighborhood features local boutiques and galleries housed in historic buildings.
Housing options in Des Moines include character-filled homes in Sherman Hill and apartment communities in downtown, with established neighborhoods like Beaverdale showcasing its signature brick homes. The city serves as a hub for insurance and financial services, with major employers including Principal Financial Group and Wells Fargo.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Jackson Crossing
Hallways and shared spaces are dirty and management changes every other week. I've lived here for 3 years, and can't count how many times they've changed. They always oversell the parking lot, and if I get home after 8:30 pm on a week night, I have to park on the street which is unacceptable. They keep the package room a mess, but then get mad and gaslight residents for not finding their stuff. They try to plan "community events", but they're always during the work day and occur very rarely.

I have lived here for almost 4 years and it has been pretty decent. Whenever I put in a maintenance request it was answered very quickly. The location near the walking trails is nice. My biggest dislike was when the new company took over they raised my rent by about $300, which was like a 25% increase. I think the apartments are now a little overpriced for what you get but overall a decent place to live.

Someone lost a master key on staff and we had a homeless person using it to open in apartments in the very building I live in. They basically gaslit the residents to tell us to “be careful who we let in,” while it was their error. They then changed everyone’s locks, everyone’s keys, which sure, I’m glad they did, but was a massive issue WE all had to deal with because they screwed up. I have a coworker in another of the 3 buildings - his security cameras are A) missing and B) pointed at the floor. Feels super safe. ??
Love living at Jackson Crossing! Great location and I even get a great view of Principal Park’s fireworks during baseball season. ?? The new management, Lloyd Properties, is so easy to get in contact with, quick on maintenance requests and great to work with. Highly recommend!

I could not select no star rating, My son and 2 friends had visited this complex for an hour at 8 pm last night., on a holiday weekend. All 3 cars towed and 130 dollars each one. Also my sons car was damaged with the hooks the tow company used.

Patricia, Sorry for the inconvenience this caused your son and friends. We have a policy in our parking lot that only tenants with parking stickers are allowed in the parking lot. Our tenants are aware and we have signs around the lot to make sure guests are aware of the policy as well.
