Carver sits near the end of the Virginia Peninsula, a wide stretch of land between the James River and Chesapeake Bay near the Atlantic Ocean. Downtown Newport News is only four miles from Carver, so residents have easy access to dining and shopping options. Modest neighborhoods and apartment communities flank Carver’s main commercial thoroughfare, Jefferson Avenue. There are numerous retailers, services, and restaurants within this neighborhood. With an Amtrak station and the James River Bridge in the area, Carver sees plenty of through traffic, so the neighborhood has a lively feel to it, even though it’s a small town.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Hilton Village Townhomes
Lived here for almost a year and can’t wait for my lease to be up!!! it’s a quiet neighborhood for the most part (I work a lot) neighbors aren’t the issue. Management and maintenance are terrible, when I first moved in a very nice lady helped me within not even a month or two of me moving in she was replaced management and rental office personnel change like clockwork so things really don’t get done or addressed. The office never answers the phone or responds to emails. It took 3 months when I first moved in for the sink to be unclogged the sink stopper was left off for weeks I assumed someone was coming back to finish the job they never did until I continuously called to complain after several calls and emails PLUS maintenance request the neighbors I had initially told me I would be better off taking a plunger or snake to unclog it myself and that the plumbing issues were horrible. Their excuse was that maintenance was short staff; which I believe there’s only one maintenance guy. Once the sink was unclogged after several months the toilet wouldn’t flush because the inside chains were so rusted they broke to this day the toilet still decides when it will and won’t flush I’m constantly lifting the back to reset it. I was under the impression that my unit was renovated but it looks like they only got half the job done there is still an old tissue holder as well as a new one. Before moving in I noticed the patio door wouldn’t open because it wasn’t replaced as it should have been I was assured it would get done within the first few weeks definitely before Christmas I moved in 12-1 it took over a month to have that done because the door was on back order or something. One of my cabinet shelves was broke when I moved in and still is. I don’t care for the maintenance to come I’m when I’m not home so I don’t call for anything but emergency things like plumbing because I swear my bath towel was used to clean water that may have spilled from the clogged sink it was dirty with little wood specs on it and I know my bath towel wouldn’t have that on it unless it was used to clean something up however you can’t prove that but it made me very uncomfortable and upset. The kitchen windowsill was and still is dirty as ever with dust and dead bugs when you lift the window. I opened it once and never opened it again. After 7 months my tub clogged and I couldn’t reach anyone not even maintenance to put in an order and when I did call for emergency services they were supposed
