Hilltop Apartments

This place, from the very beginning, is not as advertised. No one is willing to address and concerns and every time you try and contact the leasing office you get sent to an automated virtual agent that repeats the same questions each time you call.

Mice infested. I hate birds in my apartment. And I had just had my baby. Rental office didn’t seem to care much. I called corporate they never returned any of my calls. This place is horrible. Please don’t move here.

The walls are thin as sand paper ! Mice infested ! I live on the top floor and I can hear my neighbors from the bottom floor in my house. The Amtrak train shakes your whole building, never no where to park, homeless person slept inside the building, I can literally hear my neighbors wash their dishes and watch tv because how think the walls are, my dish washer leaks Everytime I use it. It’s been very icy out ! They yet haven’t really got the snow Up ! It’s JUST BAD ITS HORRIBLE! Only thing that is nice around here is the leasing office and it’s becasue they wants to draw attention! Oo yea another thing my floor isn’t leveled right

This apartment has caused me nothing but headache and stress. Tons of roaches and mice everywhere. The only solution management has come up with is for us to basically get everything we own out so they can look for holes. Mind you this was after bringing my newborn baby home from the hospital. These mice live in the walls and burrow through the carpet so they can’t actually “fix” the problem. Do not move here.

If zero stars were a option I would give them that . I’ve been living here the past year the walls are paper thin I can hear anything and everything my neighbors around me are doing . The place is infested with roaches , I moved in December of last year now it’s coming to the end on my lease and there are still roaches in the unit . I have a newborn baby I took her out her bassinet only to find a roach in her bassinet as well . Next I put in work orders nothing gets done my air conditioning unit broke for 2 weeks in the summer time .... as well as when I first moved in someone broke into my house . Then when I asked to move out due to not feeling safe they said no . They also towed my car twice for no reason they started this parking policy and didn’t notify about it in return my car got towed and the towed company had to explain to me why it got towed the company that towed my card messed up my car and I had to pay $220 to get it fixed . This place is awful they don’t even allow you to see your unit until you sign the lease to move in . This is my first home so I was still leading the ins and outs but this place is awful I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone not even my worst enemy. DONT MOVE HERE

Mice infested and no body in reatal office cares i have called about the mice 3 time and they claim pest control came but there's no traps and still mice. This place is not worth your money.RUN

Property is infested with mice and bugs. Management doesn’t care do yourself a favor and don’t. Towing happens for no reason

There are roaches and mice. I have called numerous times about this problem I just move there in November. Had a water leak in the wall and leak into my carpet they took forever to fix it but only replaced the pipes and part of wall. Under the carpet is damage. There are rondent holes in every part of the apartment. Called about it nobody ever came out to look at it. DONT MOVE HERE!!!!! Worst decision I ever made

I was extremely disappointed after FINALLY seeing the unit I was constantly hounded to sign a lease for. I was shown a model apartment about a month before the keys to my actual place was available. I went in today for an “inspection before move in” and found it to look raggedy, rushed, and just dirty. There were dead roaches all over the carpet and a flew live ones crawling in the cabinets. Why would u show a place with roaches! There is clearly an infestation in the building because I’m sure Ms. Lauren didn’t expect them to reveal themselves to potential new tenants so soon. I refuse to live with rodents or roaches especially with a new born baby on the way. They should be ashamed of themselves for trying to trap tenants by showing a model apartment & preparing leases before making sure the actual apartment is up to par. I was so disgusted I wanted to cry.

Conveniently located next to the metro. Great staff. They even have a pool and fitness center.

We are waiting for work to be done in our apartment have a key and they claim they lost it on top of the fact that this apartment is not all that. They put new tiles in our kitchen but didn’t replace the all the tiles so there’s 2 different tiles. Do not move here it is not worth it. They did not offer anything in return for their mistakes. Still waiting for things to be fixed that takes months smh! Worst place

Side Shade Note: You want a "Good" review Ms. Property Manager? (Oh, Ok!!) First of all my initial contact with this leasing office was great!! I was shown the model and I was ready to sign up. I was quoted the same price special twice and it was circled and written down than to be told that the special given to me was incorrect. So from there it went down hill. I was approved and end up getting the original special and price given to me. The welcome letter stated I had to pay an additional money for amenities. I already had my money orders. I was told only the security deposit and prorated rent. So I was upset and started fussing, as I should. I requested to speak with PM. She said I can pay it next week. So kool. I was told that we had to reschedule due to the weather and for my inconvenience I didn't have to pay Nov. rent and to just bring everything else. Once again kool. I get there to sign the lease. The PM said that there was some miscommunication and said I know what I told you but if you can pay Dec. rent the following week. I said No, I will pay Dec. rent when it's due! My teenage son and I looked at the apartment and it's nothing like the model I was shown. DO A WALK THROUGH BEFORE YOU SIGN ANYTHING OR GIVE UP ANY MONEY)that was on me b/c I usually do that and I was so anxious to move I wasn't all the way on it. That joint was so horrible and there was a water pump in the master bedroom closet that had black mold on top of it. There is no way my son and I are going to stay in this place. I had all my belongings on the Uhual so I was definitely in a bind. I wanted to see if we can be placed in another apartment like the model I was shown and I was waiting for the PM. When she finally arrived she didn't even have the common courtesy or decency to come into the office and speak with me or apologize once again for my inconvenience as she sat in her truck. She said there might be a unit available by next Wed. or I could break my lease. So after speaking with my folks I decided to break the lease. I was crying from the whole experience, stress, and anger of it all. Also make sure you have the same person working with you from start to finish at all times. I never had any issues with Jo, very helpful and pleasant?? Also make sure you always have a paper trail, (emails and take pictures) This is the WORSE experience I've EVER encountered!! I had to learn the hard way! They don’t stay true to their leases & the maintenance is horrible!!

I was approved to move in but I reneged simply because all of the bad reviews EVERYWHERE. I’m just here to state my opinion on one of their two bed room apartments with the refer to as “The roommate style” apartment. Very spacious. Washer and dryer kind of small but cool for two people. Metro 2 blocks away. So that’s cool, but I can’t afford to be subjected to roaches and mice. I just can’t.

I give this place two stars because at times, it is perfectly adequate and I'm content living here, but most of the time, it is too noisy, dirty, and the service given by the office is insufficient. My stairwell sits in front of a growing cesspool of water in an old pool that has yet to be addressed since we moved here a year and a half ago. It's a major eyesore and is a representation of how things apparently are run. You're paying far too much for what you're getting.

It all seemed so good at first, but soon I found out the real truth about this place. I’m not going into a lot of detail but from day one I realized I had made a big mistake. But now it has gotten beyond a big mistake. This place is full of roaches and mice. Not to even say that the neighbors have no respect for others and smoke what they want and where they want. These old apartments the smell comes thru and it does rise up. Management pretends to care and to help they write these standard responses that are nothing but a snow job for new residents. A real exterminator would know if it were mice activity and would know to treat the entire building and complex you can’t just fix one place you have to fix them all. The traps outside are covered with debri what mouse will go in that. DON’T MOVE HERE! I Wish I could move with out a penalty I would on the spot.

There is absolutely no customer service. They do not follow up on service request and are never apologetic about the poor service. The maintenance team changes every other week. There is no communication what so ever!!! And there are MICE!!! Moving to this community was a huge mistake! The only time you hear from these people is when the rent is late! SAVE YOURSELVES THE HEADACHE DO NOT RENT FROM HILLTOP!

The first time that I visited a friend in her apartment at Hilltop I felt like not leaving anymore, I mean looking at the entire serenity its awesome, is it the cleanliness, the beautiful flowers, the good road network, etc. Everything about this place is dazzling, would recommend over and over again for anyone seeking for a clean and nice place to live in and raise a Godly kids..Hilltop apartment rocks....

I really enjoy the environment in this complex, very clean and quiet a nice neighborhood to raise your little one in. The apartments units is very large and comfortable to be in. The washer and drier is a plus. I really look forward moving into one of these units . I really like the apartments as well as the complex itself . The management is very respectful and help you right away with what ever you need. I would recommend this complex to everyone!!!

When I was a resident here a while ago.. My apartment had BED BUGS, My vehicle and friends were TOWED, The Acting Apartment Manager called the Police On ME, My A/C Unit was BROKEN to include, My Landry Machine Stopped Working and My Vehicle Lug Nut was found loose. ((FYI)) The local kids hangout behind the rental office by the building closet to the TRASH DUMPERS. ((FYI)) When I lived there the complex had numerous vacate apartment units. ((FYI)) After your unit is sprayed for BED BUGS they still survive some how. ((FYI)) Whenever you speak with a UPPER STAFF MEMBER Bring a Witness For Your Protection and When Your Having Problems with Your UNIT, Put It In Writing. ((FYI)) These people don't care, your just a number on their rental roster. ((FYI)) If You Have $1,500 To Give To The Landlord, Then GO and Get Your FAMILY a Home. To the Acting Apartment Manager...... Thanks For Replacing My A/C Unit Once I Moved Out..... I Appreciated That, It Really Helped Out Your Next Tenant......

This is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. If you like alot of mice and very slow maintenance this the place for you. The staff is very rude. BEWARE!

THEY HIRE PEOPLE THAT COME OUT AND SIT ON THE PROPERTY AND TURN IN A REPORT SAYING THEY CAME AND SPRAYED. HOW DO YOU SPRAY MICE. I HAVE TRIED FOR 3 WEEKS TO GET SOMEONE OUT TO FIX THE MICE PROBLEM. I HAVE PURCHASED MY OWN MICE TRAPS AND CAUGHT 5 IN TWO WEEKS. HELP ME, I HATE MICE

i move into hilltop because i had no other options. i had apply to rent a townhouse and it did not work, so i had to move at the end of April. that is how i found myself in hilltop apartment. i had stayed in my old apartment for 4 years and now i have a baby and needed more space. i did not want to stay in the apartment because it did not have washer and dryer which made it difficult for me to wash my babies clothes on time since i have a full time job. moving to hilltop has been the single greatest mistake of my life. i moved into non functioning unit. my washer is not working, my heat and AC is not working , and my water isn't hot enough. am just counting my days here. PROS. The apartment are very spacious. lots of closet space the tree line is beautiful close to metro station CONS just like the rest of the reviews stated. maintenance are the worst i have ever seen. they do not care about you. i have have called them about 5 times to fix the same issue. now that my AC isn't working am scare of calling them. because, i don't know if they will cause more problem to it instead of fixing it. Ms Erica in the leasing office is one of the coldest person i ever seen in customer service. this is sad because she is the assistant property manager and has no idea of what is she doing. since the apartment is close to the metro station you will hear every train that passes. My advice - only move here if and only if you have no other options. document everything because they lie too much. lakeyia was the only person i was able to work with. again document everything.

I had quite a big issue with mice and roaches. I acknowledge that is nature but maintenance never did anything about it. I has holes in the corners of my walls so I could see the mice crawling through. I also had cracks in the ceiling of my apartment, and when it rained it would leak. Again, maintenance never did anything. Staff also seems very unorganized. They lost my check for rent and sent me a notice saying that they would take me to court if I didn't pay. They also sent me notices saying that I had put in a notice to vacate early when I hadn't. Overall, I would say use them as a last resort. If you absolutely cannot find anywhere else to stay then go ahead, but there are other apartment complexes right next to Hilltop's apartments.

There were hundreds of roaches when we moved in. After we solved the roach problem, the problem for mice occurred. You could feel how nasty the neighborhood is!! The maintenance is so slow! It takes weeks to actually have the service after requesting! The staff are rude and not friendly! They only care how much money they can get instead of how good service they could offer!

It takes several calls and even still several weeks and in many cases it took months and a call to management to threaten to call corporate before anything gets fixed. They are always under-staff and its their favorite excuse. This is ridiculous.

I was out with no where to go, when I called the representatives were very helpful, they worked with me. I was called the next day and told that I was approved, it brought tears to my eyes for I had tried to other apartments and was turned down. I truly recommend anyone and all my friends about Cambridge at New Carrollton Station. The area has all the available that you need for shopping, the metro is in walking distance, the bus is door to door. Come on down and sit a spell, you will even enjoy the view.

Very quiet community and my apartment is HUGE. I can't believe how much space I have. New washers and dryers and I controll my own heat/air. I couldn't ask for anything more!
