Property Ratings at Haverhill Apartments
Working with Quadrel Realty has been a nightmare experience for both me and my partner, and we haven’t even moved in yet! They duck calls, avoid questions at all costs and do not return with any useful information at all. Working with their leasing agent was a nightmare and moving in has been even more so, we haven’t even gotten our keys due to their gross mismanagement of information. We notified them of when our end of lease term was and they failed to send any lease agreement until the day before we were supposed to move in. The more I read over the lease terms the more I am confused. “Tenants agree that they will not give notice to vacate with a move out date between 11/1 thru 3/15 of any calendar year.” I personally live in a very cold state especially through the winter and am terrified that their mismanagement of properties will lead to freezing winter temperatures in my apartment. As a whole avoid this company with all costs. I will update this review as we continue through the process of moving in. I’m sure more is to come. I will be attempting to break this lease as soon as possible but I’m not sure how quickly we will be able to save the money to move out.
Quadrel , a company out of Chicago, manages these buildings. Or I should say are responsible for managing them but literally do nothing to provide good customer service. They do not respond to maintenance requests, take weeks if not months to respond to phone calls, have had multiple local property or leasing agents who leave and are not reliable, the people in the Chicago office are Even less responsive. The maintenance issues are ridiculous: water damage from months ago, broken sinks, broken windows, no shelves in kitchen cupboards, cupboards falling off wall in kitchen….
Now managed by Quadrel, this property doesn't get the upkeep it used to. All the maintenence staff have been let go, except for a single revolving door pairing for all the area buildings. They lapse payments for the crews that have been working on remodeling for over a year now, which get pushed into maintenance calls. They can't even keep the grass watered anymore, the fire alarm is faulty, and the utility payments have been an inconsistent mess. Be prepared to follow up multiple times if you have any issues.
Used to be good place to live than taken over by 10th Floor Properties. Everyday maintenance went way down hill. No heat. Bugs. And supposed to be smoke free but I guess you can smoke pot. Live here since 2008 & ordered to vacate so they can jack up the rent for next poor sap. Good Luck if you rent here.
It's kind of a boring building, but great location!
The building is very old and everything is falling apart. 2 of my rooms do not have ceiling lights. Pipes break from rust and they charge you for it. I was without a shower for a week and left several messages for the maintenance guy and he didn't show until over a week later. I have woken up to the maintenance guy in my bathroom without notice. I was about to take a shower!! He does not knock, just comes in whenever he feels like it. Laundry takes 14 quarters. There is no elevator and it is horrible going to the top floor every day. I have to keep my apartment showroom ready for my last two months of my lease or else I get charged a month's rent (and they say they can come in without notice). The only things I like are that the walls are thick, lots of space for the money here, and great views.
I was a resident of The Haverhill Apartments from 2010 until 2013. My partner and I loved our apartment and it felt like home. Lonnie, who works at the front office was a pleasure to work with. He is such a genuinely nice and honest individual who truely cares about the residents and property. The maintenance team was also exceptional. During winter, they would venture out early in the morning to clear the sidewalks in an effort to make the morning walk easier for the residents. They were just as nice and caring as the office staff. The building has its quirks, but that just comes along with a building that is 100 years old. It's character is something that cannot easily be replicated by some of these luxury apartments that are popping up around the city.
