I've lived in these apartments for going on 5 years. The location is great, the staff is awesome and friendly. I would however never suggest anyone live here unless you can get a top floor with no one living above you. I am so frustrated living here and upset I have to bear another 3 months before my lease is up. The building structure is AWFUL and you can hear EVERYTHING that the people above you are doing. For the past 6 months, I am woken up EVERY SINGLE NIGHT with constant knocking and pounding and thumping from whatever the people above me are doing. I think it is affecting my mental health as well because I literally haven't been able to get a full night sleep in about 6 months. I wouldn't even say they are being loud on purpose either, it's just the building is old and thin. It has reached the point, as I write this, I have to wear EARPLUGS IN MY OWN HOME, whenever I am home, to drown out the constant noises of thumping/pounding from people just living above me. I cannot focus and every time I do, I am reminded of the horrible living conditions by continuous thumps and pounds. I truly have come to resent this place. It's very frustrating that I have had to buy earplugs and have to wear them in my own living space to find any type of peace and quiet. Again, I really like the staff and think they are all great people, and the location is amazing. If you can find a top level unit, then I would say this place is awesome. But a bottom or 2nd story unit is just out of the question unless you want to be disturbed all day and night. Again, it's not due to inconsiderate tenants either, it's just the ceilings/walls infrastructure is very thin and you can hear everything, making it hard/impossible to focus without wearing earplus or headphones all day. Not how I imagine my ideal living space to be!
When I moved into Gulf Gate Apartments I thought, at the time, it was only going to be for a year. Well, it's coming up 12 years now, and I am still here! Why would I leave? The apartment is everything that I want, access to shopping is super easy, and the neighbors are great. To top it all off, the management and maintenance staff are five-star in every respect. The very few times I've had a maintenance issue it was addressed very quickly and efficiently, and the grounds and common areas are kept immaculate (cleaning is done daily), and grass, trees and shrubbery are always in perfect condition. The pools are maintained to a pristine level, and the outdoor grilling area is, too, and makes it very nice and convenient to prepare some food and then enjoy it poolside. The clubhouse is commodious, with a full kitchen, and lots of comfortable seating among tasteful decor, which makes it a great place to meet up with friends to enjoy chatting, and if so inclined, partake in a game of billiards (the table is free of charge), or watch a favorite movie in a separate entertainment room which includes a giant-screen projection TV, great sound, and a large selection of free movies from which to choose. All in all, Gulf Gate Apartments is a great place to call home, which is why I have been in this same apartment for 12 years, when I was only looking for a one-year accommodation way back in the summer of 2007, and I'm planning on staying.
Have been living in Sarasota for a few years now, and have lived in numerous apartment complexes: however, at the end of each lease, I would move. Nothing in particular to make me move, just not happy. FINALLY, I checked out Gulf Gate Apartments and IMMEDIATELY knew this was THE COMPLEX FOR ME. The grounds are beautiful, the office staff and maintenance staff are so friendly and make you feel right at home. I have a two bedroom, one bath unit, and love it. It is so quiet, and I love sitting out on the screened in porch. This complex is so conveniently located to everything. My only complaint is WHY DIDN'T I MOVE HERE SOONER !!??
I've been living at Gulf Gate for four years & I love it here. The location is prime--only a two minute drive to Siesta Key Beach, within walking distance to the shopping plaza, bars and restaurants too. I was most impressed with the friendly office staff, accommodating maintenance guys and overall cleanliness of the property.
On one side lies the sleepy residential area of Gulf Gate, with bike lanes on both sides of the street and a golf course. On the other side are bars, restaurants, grocery stores....you name it. I could easily live in this location without a vehicle. The apartment feels larger than it is and is clean.....almost like new. I love it!!
We decided to down size from a 3/2 home.So happy we found this apt.It is so clean. A women even cleans the stairs.It has 3 Pools,(one is heated) a fitness room, free D.V.Ds., beautiful grounds, great club house with movie theater, games and books, great staff and so close to everything.We feel like we are on vacation everyday!
Here at Gulf Gate Apartments you are close to some of the best shopping and restaurants in Sarasota, yet the beautifully landscaped grounds lend a feeling of space and tranquility. We frequently see white Ibis and seagulls as we are only about l mile away from beautiful Siesta Key beach, with its white sand located right on the Gulf of Mexico. The tenants are quiet and thoughtful ranging in age from children to those who have lived here 15 years or more. You will also see a lot of well-behaved pets living here at "Yorkieville" along with some lovely cats, too, making a pleasant variety of people and pets. It would be really difficult to find a nicer apartment complex than this one.
I have lived at Gulf Gate since November of 2014. I had looked at many other apartments but thought gulf gate was the best. Everything is included expect the electric and cable. The apartments are very roomy. They maintain the property very well and they also have 2 beautiful pools. The location you can't beat. You are in the middle of everything just walking distance from shopping plazas, restaurants and only minutes from Siesta Key beach (ranked #1 beach in the country). The staff is very friendly and helpful. I also never hear my neighbors which I absolutely love.
