Grovetown

Situated less than 12 miles west of Augusta, Georgia and considered part of the Augusta Metro Area, the cozy city of Grovetown is a suburban community directly north of Fort Gordon, an active US Army installation dating back to 1917. Apartments in Grovetown provide plenty of commuting options for those working in Augusta, including I-20, Wrightsboro Road, and Highway 78. Residents of Grovetown are able to enjoy events at the Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Master's Tournament. With the Savannah River forming a natural border between Georgia and South Carolina, residents can easily reach North Augusta, as well.

Grovetown isn't just a suburb of Georgia's second-largest city. This tree-filled, friendly city provides top-rated schools, attractive neighborhoods, and a large medical community that functions as a major employer for the area. Grovetown is part of the Central Savannah River Area, or CSRA, a major trade region of Georgia and South Carolina.

Along with plenty of Southern charm, azalea blooms, and magnolia trees, Grovetown features some beautiful parks and the Euchee Creek Greenway, a trail leading from Grovetown to the Savannah River. Grovetown Trails at Euchee Creek are paved with boardwalks and a pond. Goodale Park, located off Wrightsboro Road, features a playground, walking trails, and ball fields.

Grovetown developed during the early 1800s, when it was a stop on the Georgia Railroad. Back then, it was known as Belair, but the name was changed when the city was incorporated in 1881. Grovetown once served as a summer retreat for Augusta's wealthy residents, and it was home of famous poet Paul Hamilton Hayne. Learn more about the history of your new home at the Grovetown Museum, housed in a historic home dating back to the early 1800s. The museum is free, and donations are accepted.
