The horseshoe-shaped East Omaha wraps around Carter Lake and follows a bend in the Missouri River. East Omaha's east side is home to Eppley Airfield, the city's main airport. East Omaha was established in 1853, and the town became Omaha's first annexation in 1854. Once considered rough and rowdy, East Omaha today is a lively neighborhood featuring brick-paved streets and mature trees.
