Property Ratings at Geary Courtyard
The toilet still runs. I still don’t have a mailbox key because my lock didn’t work when I moved in and they had to replace the lock but didn’t think that I now wouldn’t have a mailbox key. I spoke with the mail lady and she said she wouldn’t give my mail to me unless I had a key and told me this happens all the time. No one showed me how to use the lockers. I have had things happen on the weekends like my window coming off when trying to open and then gouging the wall and no one to call. Laundry room is not mainland drawers are full of soap and other things that don’t flush through when people use them so I don’t know what’s going into my clothes. Half of the washing machines are broken or don’t spin dry so I have to do another load in another washer to complete. One of the dryers has a melted plastic rung and looks like it would snag on your clothes. People complaining of cockroaches to me although I haven’t seen any in my place. The foyer smells of garbage. There has been a fire in the laundry room and another fire drill where I had to walk down 14 flights of stairs. The front desk babysitter taking my boxes out of the locker area w out telling me so I called to get a refund on things I didn’t receive only to find out they were put in the back and now I have to call to tell them I did receive them. All this in the first week I have been here. The communication and initial orientation to this place is very poor. It doesn’t take much time to just tell a new person everything up front so we aren’t frustrated and running around like a chicken w its head cut off. Very frustrating and undo stress that I don’t need in my life. Life is hard enough.

Geary Courtyard is an excellent apartment complex to live at!! Everyone who works in the community is very courteous, kind, and helpful. The apartment offers great amenities such as a beautiful gym, a community laundry room, a small garden with bbq area, and a private parking lot. The location is in downtown making it very convenient to get to places. Public transportation is very accessible as well. Anyone should consider living here.

Since this new management took over, they don't care noisy at night or quiet hours. I notified to management but she always wipe me off, I am the one one who get lack of sleep at night because keep awake of the noise, un-healthy, I live here for 20 years actually, I was happy because the previous management always attentive. Trash on hallway not been clean for days (because trash cube clogged), I started see bugs in my unit once or twice recently, wet elevator sometimes, also trash in garage not been cleaned for days. Security some days on duty, some days not.

Hi there - we regret to hear you were displeased with your recent experience at Geary Courtyard. Please feel free to get in touch if you'd like to discuss it with us directly so we can make it right.
The apartment building has been plagued by various issues since the new management took over a year ago. Infestations of cockroaches, flies, and other bugs, particularly in the hallways, especially the 6th floor, are a major problem. The hallway carpet perpetually stinks due to residents leaving their trash by their doors. The trash chute is perpetually clogged, forcing residents to limit their trash disposal to the first floor. Residents have been known to cause false fire alarm panics, leading to multiple incidents of fire service visits and the imposition of an out-of-service tag on the building for repeated false alarms. The elevators malfunction continuously, forcing residents to rely on the stairs. The laundry facilities often have faulty machines, which are inconvenient, especially during peak hours. The streets outside are perpetually dirty and crowded with people engaged in drug use. Occasionally, drug fumes enter the building through open windows, creating a noisy and unsuitable environment for working from home, even at night. One particularly unpleasant incident occurred when a resident urinated in the elevators, causing a foul odor that lingered for several days. Another distasteful occurrence is that the lights in my apartment, which I believe is the case for other apartments that share the same breaker, have been flickering continuously. Most of the time, they shut down during the day and night, which also causes the fridge to turn off, causing food to spoil. This issue has been reported, but the management continues to prioritize other matters and has not fixed it. It’s currently obstructing my work since I primarily work from home. In summary, you would save your money by not living in this extremely horrible apartment.

That said, we want to make sure your concerns are fully resolved. We’d appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly to ensure everything is up to date and that no new issues have arisen. Please contact the office at your earliest convenience so we can assist you further. Your comfort and satisfaction remain our top priority, and we’re here to help.
The description is misleading. Apartments are in a terrible part of town. I trusted the description and hopped on the BART to check the place out. Do not go. This is NOT nob hill. I felt very unsafe here and still feel shaken up. People within 2 blocks of this place are doing hard drugs on the street. I walked from BART to this place for a few blocks and the street kept getting worse.

Hi there - 100% satisfaction is our goal! Great to see Geary Courtyard gave you such a great experience.
Quality for value luxury living at Geary Courtyard Apartments that is hard to come by in pricey San Francisco. My unit was equipped with modern amenities and it was so comfortable inside, I never wanted to leave, except to the peaceful courtyard garden for fresh air and to the the rooftop for stunning downtown views! Geary Courtyard is centrally located with easy access to any direction in the city you wish to go. It was like living in a 4-5 star hotel, and enabled me to see most of San Francisco during my time there!
I lived in 639 Geary Street from 5/5/2019 to 5/5/2020. Then I was on vacation in Hawaii because I am a teacher. I had very good experience living in here . The staffs are friendly and responsible. Especially Sydney, she left deep impression on me she was so active in helping me with all my request. Mike the manager, he is very kind, keep answering my questions no matter how busy he was. Boris, the repair engineer , he did help me twice, every time he finished the repairing, he would left a note. Very professional. So even the rent in other places are inexpensive, but I am back in this building again, this time, Daniel helped for my paperwork and preparing the lease. He is so kind with great patience. All these made me feel more confidence to live here as my home. As we all know, in this society, something that is very important to us, but money cannot buy it.
Use to love living here, but can’t even have peace in my apt Bc of all the construction noise. Most importantly no notices given preceding the construction. It’s really turned put to be a nightmare. Why am I paying rent to only be able to sleep at night here? Not worth it.
This place is expensive and has a lackluster gym with a broken sauna. The apartments are small, the rooftop normally has at least one dog poo on it, and I regularly find silverfish in my apartment. Management's response to most issues is to acknowledge your problem but respond with "sorry, but it's our policy". The area is not good, even though we are a short distance from some of the best parts of San Francisco. If you plan to live on an upper floor, just don't. The elevators are constantly out of order. Even worse, you can get stuck in them. I was stuck in an elevator for about 50 minutes on one occasion. Management refuses to accept responsibility for this, blaming the residents for "mashing and holding the button". I was excited to move in to this apartment, but have grown to despise it. Worst place I've ever lived. The only reason I leave two stars is because the food around the building is very good. Just avoid any apartment run by Equity Residential. It's not worth your money, time, or sanity.
