Hugging the Congaree River and stretching east, Columbia is a sprawling city with a history dating back to colonial times. Nicknamed the "Capital of Southern Hospitality," Columbia is a welcoming, warm city -- it is also a college town, home to the University of South Carolina. The university is located downtown, covering over 359 acres. The historic, top-ranking university dates back to 1801, but the oldest structure in Columbia is the Seibels House, built around 1796. It currently serves as a house museum.
While there's plenty for college students to do, Columbia provides a variety of activities -- whether you're a golfer, a shopper, or a foodie. Kid-friendly activities are everywhere, from the gorgeous parks to the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. The downtown district provides a variety of shops and restaurants along brick-paved sidewalks, and the river and nearby lakes provide opportunities for boating and fishing.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Gable Oaks Apartments
The property manager was accepting EBT for rent, she was then fired and has since been rehired. Her daughter resides there, and her grandkids are always in physical altercations involving police attention, and still has been able to remain in the complex( video is available, as well as countless witnesses).the worst work ethic. She ignores the the much needed repairs and when you complain she writes you up or attempts to evict you.She is never where she is supposed to be, never available for calls, but is never doing her job. She is incompetent, and unwelcoming. She needs to be replaced. As far as this places being good for children, not at all. It is no better than the Bishop when it comes to violence, drugs, and her own grandchildren are apart of the unguided, kids that make it hard for any kid to play in the complex playground safely. There is gang activity as well. If someone with the right temperament, and social skills, and someone who wanted to bring this property back to the property it once was would replace her this could be a great place to live. She is the wrong person, and is not qualified, and crooks do not prosper. As she takes advantage of the under-advantaged. When asked for cooperate information she never gives you the information because she knows she is still doing underhanded things behind their backs causing more families to be displaced for reason all her own. Somebody needs a tenants meeting without her involved to get to the bottom of her deceit. The rating given is not what this site deserves, 0 is what it gets, these apartments are infested with mold, water leaks through light fixtures and bed bugs.
This neighborhood is bad all together sorry but not a place you want your kids to grow up
