Located in between Hyde Park and Downtown San Jose, Japantown is a small historic neighborhood with a bold culture. Japantown, San Jose is one of the last three Japantowns in the United States and residents here are proud of their rich heritage. Locals celebrate their vibrant roots through hosting cultural events throughout the year. Some of these events are held at the Japanese American Museum of San Jose, which features permanent and rotating exhibits, chronicling over a hundred years history.
Japantown is known for its authentic dining scene serving Japanese, Japanese-American, Indian, and Hawaiian fare. Living at the Empire apartment complex has been a wonderful experience. The current office manager, Joseph, has been helpful and approachable. Since he became manager, the parking garage has been operating with no frequent issues, the landscape in the front has been cleaned up and maintained, and curfew for the common ammenities has been followed. He works so hard for his tenants and for the complex. Both Ben and Angelina also deserve recognition for their hard work and dedication in upkeeping this wonderful complex. I'm happy to say the team has created a peaceful and safe living condition for me and my family.

Exhibit at J-Town is a great place to live because it has the feeling of a community with the art studio events downstairs, the relatively limited number of apartments, the excellent and friendly management and maintenance staff, and the beautiful and authentic amenities around the building.

I love this property. There are many factors that contribute to enjoying a place to live, such as the neighborhood, property, unit layout, cleanliness, and in-unit appliances. However, one of the most crucial aspects is the staff. From the moment I first viewed the unit before applying, I felt welcomed. I moved to this community from San Mateo in April and have been living here for three months. I'm amazed at how clean, safe, and relaxed this community and Japantown are. I also really like that I can always feel the artistic vibes from both my apartment and Japantown, which have been inspiring me to draw.

I had a truly disappointing experience during my year of leasing an apartment in this building, and I feel it's important to share my concerns: 1) **Mold Reduction:** One of the major issues I faced was the inadequate handling of mold. Instead of addressing it properly, they drained dirty water into my tub, which is not only unhygienic but can also have serious health implications. This kind of negligence is a major concern. 2) **Trash Chute:** The building's trash chute was out of order for over a month, leading to a persistent stench in the garbage room and even the elevator. It's frustrating that such a basic amenity remained broken for such a long time. 3) **Ant Infestation:** Throughout my stay, I had to deal with an ongoing ant problem. These pests were running rampant throughout my apartment, making it an uncomfortable living environment. 4) **Bathtub Drain Issues:** The recurring problem of dirt coming out of the bathtub drain was a constant hassle. Despite reporting it multiple times, the issue was never effectively resolved. 5) **Security Concerns:** Perhaps the most alarming aspect was the security situation. My car, which was parked in the building, was broken into, resulting in a smashed window and damaged door. The same week, the building itself was breached, and my expensive electric bicycle was stolen. These incidents not only reflect poorly on the building's security measures but also left me feeling unsafe. In conclusion, my experience in this building has been far from satisfactory. The combination of mold mishandling, a malfunctioning trash chute, pest infestations, unresolved maintenance issues, and security breaches makes it clear that this is an unsafe building. Prospective tenants should exercise caution when considering this property.
I love living in Japantown at Exhibit. Japantown feels much more like a small town community where people actually say Hi back when I walk my dog. My neighbors are super friendly and I love the sushi restaurant on 6th! Couldn’t be happier!
Wife and I moved about ten days ago. We have found the Exhibit Staff very accommodating and responsive to problem solving our needs Outstanding to have both an ON-SITE MGR & ON-SITE MAINTENANCE SUPV who both live here. As stated above the staff work hard to problem solve our needs. The BUTTERFLYMX App to allow friends and delivery persons into the building is excellent. The train makes two found trips:runs close to the building but they pass in a few minute and gone. Not bad at all. Cleaning staff is on duty during the week. The building is kept immaculate. There are a host of apt options to live in this area, but one should check out the Exhibit.
Exhibit apartment is not built environmental friendly Take 20 min to get hot water at bathtub, wasting water And the patio door has large clearance between door and frame when the door is fully closed. It's now summer but heater has to turn on during evening. Wasting energy Made residents to pay large utility bill instead of fixing the issues

Love the art theme around the whole building. My unit is open concept lots of natural light. Management is great very attentive and on top of everything. Very happy living here totally worth the wait.
