Connecticut Hall, the oldest building on campus, was built in 1750 and is a National Historic Landmark.
The Yale Bulldogs participate in 35 varsity sports programs, including football, basketball, baseball, soccer, ice hockey, and lacrosse. The university also has a rowing team, golf, and swimming and diving. The historic Yale Bowl, home to the Bulldogs football team, was built in 1913 and was the country's first bowl-shaped football stadium. With a history dating back to 1876, the football team has 21 former players in the College Football Hall of Fame. They've won 19 national titles and are rivals with Harvard.
Located in the heart of New Haven, apartments near Yale University are plentiful. To live near the Yale University Art Gallery and the Yale School of Architecture, look along Chapel Street downtown -- this strip also features several shops, restaurants, pubs, and the College Street Music Hall. To be near the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History and Cretaceous Garden, look along Whitney Avenue and Sachem Street. To be close to Yale New Haven Hospital, look near the corner of York Street and Howard Avenue. The Yale Bowl and the Yale University Athletic Fields are located near the intersection of Yale Avenue and Derby Avenue.
