Emerald Park served as my home for the last couple of years. Pretty standard apartment living but what set them apart was Kait, the property manager. I had a few small issues/repairs needed and she made sure they were attended to right away!

I am loving my apartment here at Emerald Park. The apartment is sparkling, clean and is totally updated. The management team has been awesome to work with and while I had a very minor maintenance issue,!The maintenance guy was out within a couple hours to fix it.

Our cars keep getting broken into even when locked. Garbage overflowing most weekends. Have to move for work? Prepare to pay a huge fee to break your lease. Ceilings super thin. Can hear upstairs neighbors all the time.

Perfect apartment if you are not looking for anything too luxurious and keep in mind the lower cost, because you get what you pay for. Our apartment was infested with roaches for approximately three months. We were told the problem was resolved yet we still noticed bugs. Management did nothing about the situation bedsides hiring an exterminator, which took two different times before the bugs were eliminated. I was beyond disgusted that I still had to pay full rent even though I was living in a roach infested apartment. In addition, walls are paper thin. We could hear the conversations our upstairs neighbors were having and could hear our next store neighbors playing their music until the early morning. Prepare to hear absolutely everything that happens in the hallway as the sound echos. The units are older so expect everything to fall apart after the first month. Counter tops stained easily and towel bars would never stay mounted in the wall. Bath tub and shower was extremely outdated and dirty. There is carpet throughout the dining are and entrance so be aware you may trail in dirt and stain the carpet. Parking is limited and often you will have to park farther down from your unit. Washer and dryer is a stacked set so you will have to do multiple loads which will be extremely loud. A positive is that the bedroom closet is large, however the bedroom is very small. In the summer the bedroom would heat up, were as the living room would stay cool. Overall, I would not recommend this complex unless you want to be faced with consistent problems and loud neighbors 24/7.

SO... new residents to Kalamazoo. This apartment is a decent start I suppose. What are you looking for? If you would like a spacious, pet friendly apartment... This works. A one bedroom apartment provides a nice living space, closet space, a walk in closet, but a tiny bedroom. You would think they might consider making the closet smaller, so you could have a larger room. Our bedroom has been cold since the day we moved in. The window seems to be the reason for that! It hasn't been too big of a problem yet, but they will be hearing from me when my room is HOT during the summer. Do you enjoy the current cable and internet services you have now? If you do, stay away from Emerald Park. You will get OVER CHARGED for basic internet that is SLOW and has a cap! They just upgraded to a better internet speed for $66 a month. AT&T offers the same upgraded speed they offer, for only $45 a month or $55 for faster internet, with no cap. Amazing! The comparison makes me angry. You can only use the internet service they provide at these apartments. I'm not even sure if people are aware about just how bad they're getting ripped off. I'm scared to see how bad parking will be during the summer months. The parking lot is already pretty full. These apartments are no smoking, but that just means your neighbors will be outside, smoking on their patio. So good luck enjoying that amenity. One of the many perks to apartments. Also, his smoke seeps into my apartment all the time. I get mixed signals with their office staff. Mostly enjoyably! I feel sorry for the staff being stuck here, dealing with all of the things they can't control. On a positive note, my apartment was clean before move in. The small repairs that have been needed, were taken care of within a few days. Free trash removal. You pay rent plus your consumers bills. They provide gas, water,and heat. The storage spaces available are nice. They're fairly quick about snow removal and salting the walkways. I definitely won't be renewing my lease here.
I wouldn't suggest them. When I lived there I could hear my upstairs neighbors partake in night time activities, my balcony/apartment smelled of smoke because of my neighbor, the parking light shinned into my bedroom, the parking was atrocious, and more importantly the the office staff are not trustworthy. Find some place else to live. I would highly suggest their sister apartment "Gull Run", they have the same features, a bit more money, but its worth it.
