Avoid at All Costs — Horrible Experience from Day One

I wouldn't wish living here on my worst enemy-- and that is saying something. I’ve had a number of living situations over the years, and this is by far the worst I’ve ever experienced. From the moment I moved in, the management company became completely unresponsive. After collecting the security deposit, they essentially disappeared. They’re not onsite, and all communication must go through email or phone—neither of which gets a response, even after their stated 24–48 hour window. They advertise professional cleaning services and shared space maintenance, but in reality, the cleaning is rushed, and tenants are left to fend for themselves. The unit I toured looked spotless—what I actually moved into was a completely different story. I haven’t been able to use the kitchen for weeks due to layers of filth, dried sauces, and leftover food. It’s so bad that I’ve had to rely on friends’ kitchens or eat out just to avoid it. Even more concerning is the lack of proper tenant screening. They only run credit checks, no background checks. One of my suitemates is exhibiting erratic and unsafe behavior, which has made the environment feel increasingly unstable. Despite multiple efforts from both me and another roommate to raise these concerns, management continues to ignore us. Yes, the rent is cheap—but trust me, it’s not worth the stress, health risks, or constant frustration. If I could go back, I’d sign with literally any other property. If you value your peace of mind, safety, or just basic human decency in how you're treated as a tenant—look elsewhere.

Love it

I moved here after a year lease at Common Beverly down the street. I enjoy living at Elmwood much better. If fact, having lived at 5 apartment buildings in the last 4 years, this place is by far favorite. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles like others, but it's funtional-- has great prices, is in a central location and the unit quality is surprisingly nice. I'm on what should be the loudest spot, the ground floor and facing the elevators, but the walls are incredibly sound proof. I'm a light sleeper and have yet to be woken up from noise. The rooms, appliances and house keeping are all great. My roommates are stellar as well. An odd perk is that the elevators are quick. And they actually close when the close button is pressed. I have heard that there is crime in the area, but that's all of LA quite frankly. I would recommend. -Corey

Don’t believe the hype

I’ve been here almost 4 months and I can’t wait till my lease is over. Don’t believe anything that’s posted on the websites because they’re mostly lies. All the amenities that they promised are not available and they’re slow to respond emergency requests. They even censure tenants every time they complain on the public forum that we have, when that’s our 1st amendment right. Packages get stolen, cars get broken into and the worst thing is coming home from a 12 hours shift to find someone park in your spot and they expect you to wait and park on the streets when you’re paying $75 a month for parking.

WORST!

People are loud, no respect for the neighborhood. This is Larchmont not Hollywood. This area is not a party area. The residents of Common Elmwood zoom in their loud cars with music blasting at all hours. It's the worst addition to this quiet, quaint block. Also building makes you pay additional for parking, which makes street parking a nightmare. If you're looking for a lively apartment situation look in Hollywood Blvd not in Larchmont/Hancock Park.

Currently living here and loving it

This place is beautiful and is in a lovely location of Los Angeles!! It is a co-living apartment so you will live with three other tenants but you can choose to get a room with it’s own bathroom or share a bathroom with one another tenant. Personally I don’t mind living with other people I usually keep to myself, so this type of living is perfect for me! I love how they have a community lounge where we can go to do work! Beautiful property at reasonable prices

I love this coliving concept. Common Elmwood is beautiful with spacious bedrooms. The fact that all utilities and furniture is included is awesome!

Great place!

I went to view the home last week, the leasing specialist was really friendly and helpful, especially when moving to a new city is really daunting. The place had a big bedroom, private bathroom and it was all really clean. Looking forward to moving in!

Awesome Staff and a priceless view!

The staff was very helpful on my tour. Even though I'm not looking to move until June they offered me a virtual tour so I can get an idea of what the place looked like and ask questions related to my move. The view of the Hollywood sign is to die for... definitely a great alternative to the normal apartment hunting experience
