Cradled by I-240 and I-40, East Asheville sits just east of the Asheville Mall and contains the Asheville Municipal Golf Course, the WNC Nature Center, and the Folk Art Center. The star of the neighborhood, the Asheville Golf Course, is one of Western North Carolina's oldest golf courses and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was designed in 1927 by famous golf course architect Donald Ross.
