DePaul is a quirky hub of educational prosperity, thriving local business, and some of the best eateries Chicago has to offer. Apartments for rent are numerous and widespread in this area because of its popularity. Shopping malls, movie theaters, fitness centers, trendy bowling alleys, and popular grocery stores permeate this lively neighborhood. Just five miles from downtown Chicago, DePaul houses DePaul University, the nation’s largest Catholic university with notable alumni. The college town feel brings in a wide variety of residents, and there’s no limit to great restaurants and shops around this neighborhood. Visit the home of the world famous French toast flight at Batter & Berries for brunch, or try the city’s best tapas and sangria at a classic Chicago spot, Café Ba-Ba-Reeba!
The great eateries don’t stop there. Summer House Santa Monica is an incredibly decorated, upscale restaurant with a sunny, airy feel complete with an atrium that is a must-try restaurant in DePaul.

Property Ratings at Duet
Since moving in just this past August, I have had constant issues with my apartment. I have averaged more than 2 items broken per month since moving in, including a dirty washing machine at move-in, a broken dishwasher (twice), a door falling off the wall, no hot water in the bathroom, no cold water in the kitchen, and a broken bathroom doorknob. When repaired, many of these items quickly broke a second or even third time. When repairs were not completed in one day, items were left barely functional, such as the shower having to be operated with pliers or vice grips for multiple days before the handle was poorly reattached (it has since fallen come loose to the point of being inoperable for a third time). I have also had numerous unsatisfactory interactions with the property managers. The first property manager, Nancy, made no effort to return a yearbook belonging to a previous resident that was left in the corner of the closet (I was able to get it back to the previous resident myself, who was grateful as the book was a graduation gift from her dad). Recently, I have been trying to get lease information from the new property manager, Milot. Despite reaching out multiple times over the last few weeks, he has not sent even a basic reply.
