Sitting at the southern tip of Nevada where the state meets both Arizona and California, Laughlin built its identity around the Colorado River and the casino resorts that line its famous Casino Drive. Don Laughlin, a Minnesota-born entrepreneur, founded the town in the 1960s when he purchased a small bait shop along the river and gradually transformed the area into a destination resort corridor. Beyond the riverfront strip, Laughlin spreads across roughly 90 square miles of desert terrain framed by rugged mountain ridgelines.
