Sitting at the southern tip of Nevada where the state meets both Arizona and California, Laughlin built its identity around the Colorado River and the casino resorts that line its famous Casino Drive. Don Laughlin, a Minnesota-born entrepreneur, founded the town in the 1960s when he purchased a small bait shop along the river and gradually transformed the area into a destination resort corridor. Today, the hospitality and gaming industries anchor the local economy, giving the town a resort-town rhythm that sets it apart from most Nevada communities its size.

Beyond the riverfront strip, Laughlin spreads across roughly 90 square miles of desert terrain framed by rugged mountain ridgelines. The pace here is decidedly relaxed, and the tight-knit atmosphere is reinforced by community events like the annual Laughlin River Run motorcycle rally and classic car shows that draw visitors from across the Southwest.
