Five Points South wraps around the University of Alabama at Birmingham with the UAB Campus Green sitting in the heart of the neighborhood. The south end of the neighborhood contains the Vulcan Park and Museum and the Vulcan Walking Trail, while the north end contains Railroad Park Foundation and Regions Field. Five Points South is a historic district that was founded in 1893. As Birmingham’s entertainment district, Five Points South provides more than historic architecture, great food, and an energetic student vibe. The building is beautiful and the view of the city is unmatched. But the lobby and elevators are gross, and the homeless population around the building make it unsafe for me to walk my dog at night especially with the time change. I’ve personally had two unpleasant experiences with homeless men being in the lobby. I spoke to another female resident that had an unpleasant experience with a homeless man in the building also. Plus I noticed someone had been taking electricity from the building and running it to the abandoned building across from the mid rise. I also had my license plate stolen while I parked in the guest parking lot over night so now my car stays behind the gate. As a woman I don’t feel safe in the guest lot or around the building at night due to the homeless population that hangs around. I even had a kind gentleman from the mid rise warn my husband and I one night about how unsafe it is. I’ve witnessed many, clearly drug addiction fueled, arguments and rants in the driveway by the homeless population. And had run ins with them in the garage and even in the outside doorways while trying to get into the building. Honestly it’s a bit scary and there is no security. In my opinion, the building is too nice to be so poorly maintained.

The high-rise is reasonably priced, within walking distance to 5-points, highlands, and beautiful scenic spots. The traffic is not bad in the area, the parking deck is nice, and things like trash/cardboard box disposal is very convenient. The office staff are excellent and fast to reply.

I downsized from a suburban home with a large yard to an apartment at Cortland Vesta. It has been a complete lifestyle change and even better than expected! Some of the best dining in the city is a short stroll away and the airport is an easy 12-minute Uber ride from the front entrance. Views of the sunset and the orange-streaked sky never get old, and friends love to visit and enjoy catching up around the firepit with the full city skyline beyond. The well-appointed gym and sky deck work spaces allow for a change of scenery without leaving the property. The secure parking deck adds tremendously to the overall convenience of living here. Courtland Vesta is nothing like apartment life as I remembered it; there is a nice balance of privacy within a contained, bustling community. A move to Courtland Vesta is a quick way to simplify your life and enjoy your time.

Do not waste your time living here. While the building is nice, it is still downtown Birmingham, so the homeless people are rampant. The amount of times I have been accosted by a crackhead while trying to get to my vehicle in the parking deck is disheartening. Cortland does not provide security despite how much we pay in rent.

If you have an electric vehicle do not rent here. They have 2 charge stations and do nothing to get the people to move their vehicles after they have been charged.

Courtland Vistas mid rise apartments are just beautiful inside and out. I sold my home because it was too large for me and I thought I would never feel the comfort of my home again, but living here at Courtland Vista, and able to get my furniture in here was amazing. It feels like home again!!! The maintenance staffs here are amazing!

Great place to live and location proximity to restaurants is walkable. Very responsive and friendly maintenance and desk staff.
I enjoy living at Cortland Vesta - modern facilities, central location, lovely staff, and the rooftop swimming pool is amazing.
I am truly thankful and grateful that I chose this place as my temporary home. I absolutely love everything about it!! The staff is always so attentive, professional and accommodating. Maintenance is swift to repair everything that may occur. And I always feel safe when coming home late from work. This place is the absolute best!!
Staying at the Cortland Vesta is like staying at a hotel with the feeling of home. The Office is always on top of an issue (which is rare) and the Vesta support engineers have helped in fixing those issues relatively quickly.
Cortland Vesta is definitely one of the best apartment complexes in bham! Were having a better life quality here!
If you're looking to live in the convenience of the city, then I recommend Cortland Vesta.. The property always looks nice and clean and the management, and maintenance teams are prompt and respectful.
I have only positive things to say about my experience living at Cortland Vesta. The staff is excellent, and very accommodating. They made my transition and move from another state extremely easy. The maintenance staff is top-notch, and they typically respond to any request within hours. Anything Ive ever brought to their attention was taken care of within one day. The amenities are amazing, and the apartment layouts and finishings are unbeatable. Im so happy to call this community my home!
The location is perfect. The amenities are amazing: rooftop patio with fire pit and bar, Pool with best view in Birmingham and indoor and outdoor exercise areas. The support staff has the same attention to detail! A great place to call home.
It has been great living at the Cortland Vesta midrise so far! The Cortland staff is extremely responsive and the units here are beautiful.
