The maintenance team here is excellent and leasing has been very helpful with my family on a number of occasions! The Unit - Its spacious and renovated. The concessions when we moved here was also a key reason we chose this property. Be prepared to spend 150-190 on electricity. We normally run it on eco mode, however still it average to that amount. And we know something is wrong with the building because in our prior apartment buildings we have never exceeded 80 dollars. Common Areas - Since we moved here in January, there has been nonstop noises from renos. When we toured the building the lady said it would finish in June. We are well into July and it's still going on. The hallways are constantly dirtydu/sty. It started with the unit to our left, and then the driveway in front of us was being renovated, which you can see / hear from our unusable balcony now. Then the unit on top of us started renovations. So at one point we were hearing noises from M-F, 8-5 all around us. And now it’s July and they started renovations to the unit on our right. I have shown leasing videos and they just don’t care. Also the driveway is still not done 4 months later, and this makes it difficult for Uber/Lyft drivers to pick you up or deliver food. My wife has herniated disc in her back and we had to get her a walking stick because the walkway is to small for her wheelchair. Again we would've picked any other place nearby. Leasing Office - They just give you textbook responses when you go to them with problems. My wife sometimes gets migraines to the point she is bedridden. Again we were told during our tour, that it would be done by summer, we can manage its NBD. So in June I complained to the leasing office and ask when would it be done, bc that day there noise to the point you couldn’t hear anything; and my wife had a migraine attack. To which after saying my wife was bed ridden, showing leasing videos of the noise; she just said “Oh you can use lounge” and “There’s a construction clause in your contract” To which I repeated the point “she is bedridden she can’t move” and “ I understand but like you said it would be done by summer and we are well into summer” to which she got defensive and said “that was for amenities but for apartments she doesn’t know” so I just told her well then you weren’t clear during the tour and I felt duped. And she just said “What do you want us to do about that”. I was just fed up and left. Another lady did chase me and did say she would get the manager to call me, but never heard back and I avoid interacting with them because of this sour incident.

I love how modern and spacious my apartment is. I also like how close everything is to the building because I can walk instead of drive. Those things plus the nice amenities definitely make this place worth it.

There has been constant construction noise for over 15 months now. Absolutely *DO NOT* move here if you value peace and quiet - there is incessant banging and hammering audible throughout the building if you're fortunate enough to not have them working on your floor at a given moment. Other times you might be unlucky enough to have the hammering and power tools right outside your apartment door. I am not kidding when I say that there has barely been a single day in over a year that I don't hear any construction noise, which has made living here and working from home a nightmare. I am constantly having to apologize for the noise on work calls. I *HIGHLY* suggest you reconsider if you are thinking about moving here, especially if you work from home. Your health and sleep will decline in the long run. I'd say move to a newer building in the area with no renovation going on. Their renovation will run through next year at this rate of slow renovation. The elevators are all run down. They'll fool you with renovated lobby and renovated units. But the rent you will not justify the noise disturbances, sleep deprivation, and mental health decline due to the loud noises.

We do our best to communicate that we are having construction take place during the leasing process so there are no surprises. I've been living at Cortland for 7 months and recently decided to transfer to a new renovated apartment. Dashe in the leasing office assisted with the process and did a great job. This apartment has been the worst living experience of my life. Whether its the constant construction noise, wifi outages, terrible elevators, or lack of security, its very hard to decide what the single worst thing about living here is. Management knows these safety and quality of living issues exist but choose to do nothing about them. Instead they spend their time and money installing silly artificial lighting in the hallways to trick new renters into thinking the place is nicer than it is. Locks from the garage to the elevators simply do not work, and haven't for the year I've lived here. If someone can get in the garage, they can get to your apartment. Additionally, they made the decision to replace the apartment doors that had 2 locks and that would lock automatically, to cheaper doors with one simple lock that must be done manually. Bottom line, you are better off spending your money ANYWHERE else. The fact that this place charges what they do, for such a terrible living environment is almost laughable, if it wasn't so horrible.

In addition to disclosing and explaining that renovations are happening during the application process, we also include a renovations addendum in all leases acknowledging that the applicant is aware of this. We do work very closely with our construction teams and have designated hours during the day that they are permitted to be conducting work which may be disruptive, so if you ever notice work being done very early in the morning or late in the day, please let us know and we are happy to speak with them. WiFi is set up and paid for by individual residents. If you are experiencing issues with outages, we recommend reaching out to your personal internet provider who may be able to provide a solution for you. While elevators may require repairs from time to time, we do our best to work with our elevator repair vendor to have them fixed as quickly as possible. At this time, all elevators in our building are operational as well as the garage door and locks. We are also very fortunate to have 24/7 concierge who keep an eye out for any suspicious activity. Aura is a great place to live in Pentagon City! I've had two separate leases with Aura, and I'm really happy living here. Apartments are relatively affordable for the area, the leasing team is amazing, and the amenities are great. The apartments are spacious and comfortable for the price, and I've never had any issues with management or other tenants. While no apartment will be perfect, I would highly recommend Aura to anyone looking at apartments in the Pentagon City area! (Work with Jasper in the leasing office if you can!)
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Aura! I moved in mid pandemic, and it’s been such a great experience. I could tell the staff actually cared about residents. The maintenance staff is great, especially Derren! They always attend to your tickets as soon as possible. They’re super friendly and great with pets ! My dog gets happy every time they enter our apt or when she sees them on the property. The concierge staff is great also. Mr. John always greets you with a warm welcome. I have to also give kudos to the property manager, Alexis. I’ve never had PM that was super attentive to questions, concerns, etc. If I wasn’t moving out of state, Aura would continue to be my home. If I’m ever back in the DMV area, this is the only place I’d live.

This is my third year here. Management changed not long before the pandemic and immediately started cost-cutting. The latest one was not having enough maintenance personnel to take off the 20 year old buildings. Spent a week trying to get my hot water fixed, got tired of waiting and fixed it myself using YouTube videos. Same for clogged sink last year :).
This apartment complex is very clean, well-maintained, and has free cookies! The Leasing Office is very responsive and has people who are committed to finding the right unit suited to your needs. The maintenance staff is the best --- I submitted a maintenance request online last month, and the next day when I came home from work, the problem was already fixed, and they even left a note explaining what they did! The best of all is the concierge --- the people there are extremely nice, helpful, and just cheerful in general. It is about a 5 minutes walk to Costco, 5 minute run to two large soccer fields and a park, 7 minute walk to the Pentagon City Metro, 8 minute walk to a huge shopping mall, and a 10 minute walk to the nearest grocery store. And the top it off, a coffee machine downstairs with a variety of selections!
This is the perfect building if you want a quick walk to the metro, great restaurants and outdoor space. The common areas are well maintained and staff incredibly helpful. Unlike other apartments in this area, it has a large recreation and game room, pools, and outdoor and indoor lounge areas.
