Property Ratings at Avana Copper Spring
The maintenance staff take months to get back to you over even the smallest of issues. They require you to pay an additional fee to have your mail delivered to a safe room with no alternative option. The parking spaces directly in front of the apartments are reserved for anyone willing to pay $25 a month just to park in front of your own apartment. The apartments themselves are overpriced considering the quality and state of the apartment and appliances. When I moved in the microwave was missing it’s plate, the dishwasher was broken before I had a chance to use it, and there was a crack in the bathtub that took them over a week to fix with me being unable to use it in the meantime. Generally terrible apartments. There are absolutely better ones in the area.

I'm writing this review in the middle of the night as I'm unable to sleep with the plethora of bugs surrounding me. I've found several cockroaches in my cabinets and a multitude of centipedes in my bedroom and bedroom closet. I've had a leak in my apartment for over two months now and have been told several times that it would be fixed, but it has not. Considering the fact that moisture attracts centipedes, it isn't that surprising that they are everywhere. I've had to tear apart my apartment trying to spray for bugs and feel completely disgusted. Management rarely returns phone calls and messages, including my messages inquiring about why the leak has not been fixed. After reading other reviews, it is obvious that this is a common problem and it is no wonder there is a bug infestation problem. I had initially planned on renewing my lease since this is a nice area and a good location, but this is the final straw for me. I am desperate to get out of this place. And please do not let the pictures fool you. I would absolutely not recommend this apartment complex. Update: I spoke with the assistant property manager about these issues. They were condescending, not at all apologetic, and acted like I was being unreasonable. They told me they were aware of all of my messages but had no plans to do anything. I have now learned that other residents in my building have roaches but management is still unconcerned.
I was happy when I chose this apartment complex, but have become more and more disappointed with it since my lease began about two months ago. I submitted a maintenance request when I first moved in and have since submitted two additional requests, and they still have not been addressed. I have spoken with someone in the leasing office at least 5 times now but that has not proved to be of any help. Some of these maintenance issues include smoke pouring out of the stove when I use the oven and the washer not working properly. The apartment smelled putrid when I first moved in, and I still haven't been able to get the smell out despite my efforts to do so. My clothing even smells like the place, which is humiliating. It was absolutely disgusting when I moved in, and I spent a lot of money on cleaning supplies. I went through an entire container of Clorox wipes just to clean the kitchen and bathroom. These are only a few of the many problems I have with this place. I planned on living here during the two years I will be in graduate school in Richmond but do not plan on renewing my lease. I would not recommend this community. I realize someone will likely respond to this asking me to contact the leasing office with these issues, but I already have many times, and it was not helpful.

Location is great, price is a little higher than others in the area. Neighbors are all super nice, everyone is kind and keeps to themselves. Maintenance usually responds within the same week.

I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when I moved in 3 years ago, flash forward three years and I am so very glad I choose to live at Copper Spring. I have a supportive, friendly and efficient management team and a maintenance staff who are responsive and helpful. I feel right at home here.

Copper Spring is an amazing place to live! It is my first apartment and Abdullah, the leasing agent, made everything a breeze. It is the perfect location as a college student and has all the best amenities. Worth the extra price!!

Well I’ve been living here for almost a year and I wish I enjoyed this place more . The floors creak so bad and it took months for us to have maintenance come out to service anything. Our stove makes weird ticking noises when the oven is turned on. You can hear EVERYTHING in the hallway, in the apartment above you, and the apartment under you too. For some odd reason they placed a couple with a 2 yr old over us so we hear the kid running through the house all day and night. And don’t get me started on the parking . If you’re not in a parking spot in front of your building by 8pm, you will have to park at least 2-3 buildings down in the dark. They don’t tow here nor do they have guest passes so guest are always taking the tenants best parking spaces. It’s so frustrating to come home at 8 and you have to walk around the street from your home.
My husband and I moved into Copper Spring in the summer of 2018. We had a very rough start at CS due to previous ownership/management who let a lot of maintenance issues fester - beware of ZRS Management!! Bell Partners took over during our second year at Copper Spring and we have since seen noticeable improvements. The complex is older and we must admit we have dealt with continual maintenance issues mostly relating to older systems in need of repair/replacement. The current management and maintenance staff stay busy and have been very professional through all the chaos that has come with 2020. The complex is overall very quiet and peaceful; the layout allows a decent amount of privacy even though the complex itself is only about five minutes away from Short Pump. While there are ups and downs at every complex, we have overall enjoyed our time at Copper Spring and truly appreciate the staff for their hard work and diligent efforts.

I love the location of our apartment and the people are quiet which is nice.

Copper Spring has been my home for over seven years. I am very happy with the property management and with the courtesy of the friendly staff. I have a secluded apartment with skylights, high living room ceiling, patio, spacious bedroom, walk-in closet, and wonderful kitchen. The interior spaces are lovely, especially the units with fireplaces.
Overall great place to live. Beautiful area for walking or bike riding. Great for families and singles. Accessible to major highways for the working class. The management team has really stepped up to show compassion in these uncertain times of Covid-19 but they are great and understanding in other times too.

While the space is big for a good price, water quality is not very good (after maintenance fixes they deemed my sink will take 2-5minutes to get hot water to it due to being on the other side of the apartment from the water heater, water pressure is also nonexistent and should be fixed), ac units seem to be old and break often (which in 90 degree heat is not deemed as an important fix), and requests dont seemed to be followed on a timely manner. The community also has a great pool and gym which maybe a total of 15 people use ever and the hours that the amenities were changed to is less than ideal because they are during work hours only (aka times they never usually get used). I wish they would provide guest passes to gyms near by in the area so working professionals can stay healthy and extend pool hours in the am and pm.

Copper Spring used to be a great place to live, but it is not worth living here anymore.
Copper Spring offers some great apartments. Even thought the pandemic the staff have worked diligently to keep the grounds clean and safe. Great quiet centrally located appartment

Overall, I am very satisfied with my apartment at Copper Springs. It is clean and safe, the appliances work well, and I enjoy the convenient location 15 minutes away from my place of work and right next to West Broad St. I wish there were overhead lights in the bedrooms, but I have gotten by with lamps. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, and the community is animal-friendly.

The community has made improvements in Caroline now sweeping out the breezeways, regularly. She does an excellent job. Maintenance requests still take very long to fulfill. The trash is full, and my rent is going up, but I have large cracks in my walls.

Management is unhelpful, generally not knowledgeable, and typically seems uninterested in doing things proactively. Residents always have to make demands and requests for them to do the right thing. From the first day we moved in and the apartment was still a mess and unfinished and major appliances were broken, that attitude of carelessness has continued.

Apartment full of Roaches, dealing with it since I moved in which management doest seems like they care ,you wont get proper response from leasing office. They will be always busy. They wont care about you. Leasing office associates says they will get back to you which they never did you have to keep calling them to get response. They always say manager is busy no update.maintenance request taking atleast 20 days and max 2 months to fix they complain they dont have enough people to work on request. Think twice before choosing coppersprings Only pro storage space

I do not recommend anyone to move here. There's termites which I have videos of them coming through my vents so just imagine the damage that they're doing. Pest control never comes once a month like they claim and the hvac hasn't worked in months my apartment temperature is constantly between 77 and 83 degrees. I really wish I never moved here.

To start off, Copper spring has disgusting management. Secondly they have termites and other bugs that they treat at their leisure. I could go on and on.... don’t waste your time and money.

Do not move into this apartment. They dont care about anything but collecting rent and fees from its residents. They dont care about safety of their residents or about the quality of life with in the apartments they provide. Stay far away from this property. The BBB has been notified.
I am now on my second incident of having to spend a night without AC. (Living in Virginia summer heat!) They switch management and nothing changes. I was promised reimbursement from the last no AC incident for a day of rent and pet boarding for my dog (they would have gladly just let him die of heat exhaustion) but I have yet to receive this reimbursement and doubt I ever will. Do not live here no matter the management switches they make, NOTHING changes! Best of luck to those who still have to live here. I am elated my lease ends in one month. There is a reason they have so many available apartments.
