The Conti Bienville Cottage 453 Conti St. Apt. A and Apt.B. NO PETS ALLOWED, NO EXCEPTIONS. This historic cottage has warmth and charm for tenants looking for an opportunity to experience Mobile’s past. It maintains its exterior integrity for the time period it was built, however, it has been modernized with fresh and updated features that most dwellers will appreciate. The cottage has been carefully renovated to attract the attention of both younger and older dwellers alike. The cottage has two very similar apartments with a downstairs layout that include a living room, sunroom, half bath, a full kitchen that is accommodate with a washer and dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher, electric stove, and a microwave oven. Detailed crown molding is found in both apartment living rooms. There are two bedrooms upstairs, with a full size bathroom, along with a skylighted staircase. Smart features, such as programable thermostat, smart TV, free WIFI, and smart locks are also added for the tenant’s comfort and safety. Both units have a sunroom located directly off the kitchens. Each unit also has a covered patio for outside living. One has an outdoor fireplace and an outdoor TV. Each unit also has a landscape lighted water wall feature which provides for a quiet calming atmosphere. “In the early decades of the nineteenth century, one of the most popular house types in Mobile was this small one-and-a-half story cottage with doors opening onto a long front gallery. Sometimes the gallery served both as porch and exterior hallway. The simple scale and simple charm of these cottages gave the city street scene a friendly, human quality, a mood of warm familiarity. Only a few have survived fire and change. Some local historians believe that this could be the oldest house in Mobile”.
