The wettest months tend to be in the spring time, with March and April racking up the most water.
The area is sometimes prone to inclement weather such as tornadoes. Columbus is unique in that its geography is much flatter than many of the other surrounding towns and as such, tornadoes tend to have more space to roam unhindered across the open fields. MSU is located in nearby Starkville, one of the other cities in the region's "Golden Triangle." Many Columbus residents make the short drive to Starkville for various MSU games.
