The management, front door staff, and maintenance staff are great. Always willing to help and go above and beyond. 4.5/5 for them. I’m giving this place 3/5 because of the type of residents that live here. The main crowd here are young 20-30s professionals and it gets LOUD and ROWDY. My neighbors are always throwing parties and blasting loud music at night. There’s always people yelling in the hallways. I’m primarily moving just because of how noisy the residents here are. I want peace and quiet when I’m sleeping.

Incredibly disappointed in my experience with Coast throughout the almost year I have lived here. The location is amazing and Lakeshore East is a great neighborhood. HOWEVER that does not make up for how bad this building and its management is. The apartments have super dated appliances that are constantly breaking, the window insulation is so bad that your floors are dripping wet in the winter time and you have no control over when the building turns on the AC so in the Spring, Summer and sometimes Fall the apartments get up to 80+ degrees inside. The leasing office staff is USELESS and unhelpful, there are constantly cars getting broken into in the garage and there are not enough elevators for how many people live in this building. The bright points of the building are the wonderful front desk and maintenance staff and the view. For how much you pay it is not worth it. AVOID COAST AT ALL COSTS

I just moved in a couple of months ago, and I find this place a great fit to live in the heart of the City - Chicago. Following are the reasons why: 1. The building offers some amazing views (Lake facing and South side parks) and plenty of apartment options to pick and choose the best one that fits our budget and expectations. 2. Great services provided from end to end - From start of the application till the date you move in to the apartment. Special thanks to Karim, Sarah, Sheila and team for their assistance 3. Building amenities and others (Gym, lobby, reception services, Mail and Parcel room, library, resident lounge) are of great quality. They tend to maintain it nice and clean. The reception staff always makes you feel warm and welcome and do assists around often. 4. The apartment structure is nicely built, decent size - 1 bed in my case. Mix of wooden and Carpet flooring available. GE electrical appliance are in great shape as well 5. Maintenance and repair works - That's something inevitable with every apartment buildings, but Coast team does a fantastic job when it comes to assisting residents with fixing things and getting things back to working. Timely and professional. 6. Amazing public parks available in the vicinity which seems like a great fit for the summers. Overall a great apartment building in the downtown Chicago area in terms of pricing and availability. Definitely worth moving in.

i am so regret i rent the apartment. it appears nice at first. however, when you move in, you will find problems here and there. the kitchen closet door fall off only after two months i moved in. there are always spiders on the balcony. However, beside all of these kind of problems. the maintenance is the worst. i was forced to pay lots of money for the damage that is not cost by me. And they said to me that they are the boss, if you argue, i will charge more. Don't choose the apartment and let yourself regret.
The actual apartments are not is represented in the models. The kitchen sink is so shallow, that a large pot or pitcher won't fit under the faucet. The medicine cabinet in the bathroom, is placed opposite the toilet. Seriously! The microwave is not mounted above the stove. This leaves three options; (1) place the microwave next to the stove-which leaves no counter space, (2) place on top the refrigerator-which means you can't see in without a step-stool and your dangerously pulling hot items over your head, (3) or place on top the combination washer dryer unit. The stove does not have a thermostat. There's no way to tell when preheating has reached the needed temperature. The combination washer-dryer unit takes forever to dry a load of clothes. A small load of light to medium weight items takes about two hours.
Coast apartments are well designed and have great layouts - form and function! Pair that with a fantastic staff, million dollar views, and the perfect location and you have a great place to live.
Coast is a nice place to live. It's about a 10 minute walk from Michigan Avenue where you can catch any of the north or south bound buses that run very often. The amenities include a 24 hour gym that's very good. They keep the equipment up to date and fix broken equipment pretty often. Other amenities include sauna, pool (outdoor), jacuzzi, BBQ area, 24 hour common room that has private offices with sliding doors where you can take calls or study. I used them for conference calls when I worked from home. There is also a shipping center that closes around 6pm and a dry cleaner (this closes for 1.5 hours in the afternoon), but they are very good at getting the packages to you quickly. There is never a line. The views on the North side are absolutely breaking. I would recommend around the 20th floor as they are gorgeous and just high enough so you can't hear the traffic. The rent is lower than the higher floors. You definitely pay for the view. One of the best things about living at Coast is that it's removed from the tourists, nice and quiet, not too social but a healthy and young tenant list. It also has the park that includes Marianos, a dog park, coffee gallery/ Mexican restaurant, Starbucks and manicure/pedicure place. The walls at Coast are thick and you can't hear the neighbors. It's pet friendly for dogs and birds as well as fish. There are also two Zip Cars in the building parking. Parking as a guest can run you $30 night easily. However there is parking right outside the building. Also, you can see the fireworks and the water fountain next to the Sheraton. You can also see the sunrise and sunset if you are on the north side. Two bedrooms can be found on the northeast corner which has the best views overall. I do recommend Coast. It's a bit expensive and yearly they raise the rent about $150. I do not think it is managed as well as Aqua, but the quality is close. Amenities are better at Aqua too but not the views. Very difficult to transfer to another unit as they go fast and there is a wait list. Recycling must be dropped off on P1 which is an inconvenience, not on your floor. Maintenance charges $40 hour and can add up for additional things like shelves or custom faucets. I would have preferred a bit more of a social culture as it's not too exciting but a great place to unwind after work. Easy to get a cab as well with Swissotel next door. Doormen are all great. Shipping center and dry cleaning gals as well. Enjoy it! Cheaper than 500 Lakeshore.
In my opinion Coast is one of the nicest buildings in the Lakeshore East development; great amenities(pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, offices, grills and outdoor decks), clean modern apartments with large balconies. In addition, it's next to a beautifully maintained park, several grocery stores and other well designed condo and apartment buildings. The door staff is already pleasant and helpful.
