Fenton provides the ideal location near several major cities. It is 38 miles north of Ann Arbor, 65 miles east of Lansing, 14 miles south of Flint, and 46 miles northwest of Detroit. It's no wonder the city's slogan is "Be Closer." And while you'll be able to reach two of the Great Lakes -- Lake Huron and Lake Erie -- in about an hour, Fenton is near an impressive 58 lakes, including Silver Lake and Lake Fenton.
Established in 1834, Fenton was first named Dibbleville -- you'll find a historical marker downtown after moving to your Fenton apartment. Dibbleville (named for early settler Clark Dibble) was purchased by William Fenton in 1837, and the name became Fentonville. The "ville" was dropped around 1863. You can learn more about Fenton's history at the Fenton Museum.
Be sure to take advantage of Michigan's natural beauty by visiting the local parks and lakes.
