Deer Park is a charming neighborhood that blends commercial spaces and residential streets. Deer Park is nestled in Downtown Newport News, and hip urbanites and an array of professionals flock to this collegiate residential area nestled near Christopher Newport University. Deer Park is home to City Center at Oyster Point, a bustling mixed-use commercial center that offers retailers, restaurants, and office buildings. Medical centers, grocery stores, and service-based businesses fill this urban neighborhood. Pizzerias, seafood joints, steak houses, breweries, cafes, and cantinas await in this lively district. Deer Park is surrounded by a sprawling green space of the same name that houses the Virginia Living Museum, a fun-filled zoo with over 250 species of plants and animals. Rent in Deer Park is surprisingly affordable, offering great options for students, professionals, and families.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Chesapeake Bay
You pay a lot of money for rent; but it's overpriced and service is hit and miss. I have lived here a few years. And with blessings, this will be my last year. Our dryer broke several weeks ago. They gave us access to another building to use a communtiy dryer. i have to go up and down steps; in the heat and walk a distance from my unit. They hide from confrontation, and won't allow you to contact Westminster Property Managment because they fear repercussion's even more than confrontations. Sadly, they prove that common sense, isn't common. Additionally, there are constant plumbing problems. Avoid the annoyance and avoid properties managed by Westminster.
The staff is great and works well with their tenants. Spencer is one of most efficient and reliable staff members when any type of maintenance is needed. These apartments have a great environment to feel welcomed and at peace.
Staff was super friendly and knowledgable and helpful staff any issue that arose they took care of same day or if it was late at night the very next day but had very few issues and the ones i did have were very minor only reason i loved out at the year and not re leased was i had to love states for my new job
Crystal and all the staff make sure that your needs are attended to immediately. Nice and quite place to live.
I just moved here, smooth move in,great warm welcoming office people and maintenance seems on top of things.Very cute area and very quiet! I would recomend checking this one out if you want to be centrally located in Newport News, everything at your fingertips literally!
The worst customer service I have ever received. They never answer the phone, lack of communication with everyone, and the leasing team is extremely lackadaisical.

"Friendly community with wide range of demographics: young professionals, families, retired folks. The management and staff continuously strive to meet or exceed expectations. The staff are kind, generous and helpful in all aspects! Grounds are beautiful and meticulously maintained. Truly one of the best apartment complexes in Newport News, VA." -Anthony

DO NOT LET THE PICTURES OF THIS PLACE FOOL YOU. Yes, it may look "remodeled" but once you actually get to your apartment, everything has been poorly redone. Things not put together all the way or these "brand new" appliances not functioning properly. Then if you have issues with neighbors and go to the leasing office the will blow it off. For instance, my time here I was a pregnant military wife with my soldier away. My neighbor was constantly smoking marijuana and cigarettes in her apartment. I asked them not one time or two times, but 4 times for them to get to at least stop smoking marijuana in her apartment. But no one has done anything and all they offered was to give me a different apartment but there was "no guarantee" that I will not have the same issues. It's truly ridiculous on how they couldn't offer any help but that, but at my other apartments I stayed at I knew there were "strikes" that someone could get before being evicted, so they would rather have a pregnant woman suffer than to actually do something to benefit not only me but the surrounding neighbors like the rest of the families in my section of the building They clearly do not care about the residents here. Also, my lock system on my BRAND NEW "RENOVATED" apartment was all messed up and I said something to them, did they come fix it? Of course not. If I could give this place 0 stars I will. Take your money elsewhere because this place is not worth it. Also, If you have animals be careful where you walk them because this place doesn't treat for fleas and no one cleans up after their dogs mess.

CLEAN, BUT VERY OVER-PRICED! NEIGHBORS INCONSIDERATE. NOISIEST PLACE I'VE LIVED
Property Manager at Chesapeake Bay, Responded To This Review
We're very sorry that you feel our homes are overpriced. We evaluate prices carefully based on market prices and our amenities, however we would be happy to discuss them with you directly. We would also like to speak with you about your neighbors - hopefully there is something we can do! Please don't hesitate to reach out to us at (757) 599-7873 or stop by the office if you have the time. Thank you - The Team at Chesapeake Bay Apartments
I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Management is terrible, and has only gotten worse under new management. They have recently "remodeled", which means slapping a coat of paint on rotten woodwork and rusted railings...all so they can jack up their prices. They will rip you off, not make requested repairs, and (to top it all off) tow your car for no reason. Please, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
Property Manager at Chesapeake Bay, Responded To This Review
