Nestled on the Columbia River in northeast Portland, Argay is a small community across the way from Government Island. Accessible only by boat, residents go to the island to fish, camp, and hike. Argay is settled on Interstate 84 and immediately east of Interstate 205, making the commute to nearby cities like Vancouver a breeze. The neighborhood is also just a few miles east of Portland International Airport, and residents can reach Downtown Portland in roughly 20 minutes. The area between the river and Sandy Boulevard is mainly industrial, lined with warehouses and industrial centers, whereas the south side of town features small businesses, sports bars, restaurants, neighborhood parks, and residential avenues. Property Ratings at Castlegate Apartments
As a previous reviewer said, this place is a pain in the neck. The apartments themselves are pretty nice, BUT . . . there's a main thoroughfare right next to the property, but there's no access to it. We have to drive 4 miles through a neighborhood with 20/25 mph speed limits in order to get out of the neighborhood. The rent is so high that you need roommates to afford it, but parking on the property is restricted to one space per apartment. Somebody is going to have to park out in the neighborhood, and the residents there are pretty quick to report you to parking enforcement if you park in front of their driveways, mailboxes, or fire hydrants. I've seen a lot of tickets on cars. Renter beware!
This complex needs to open up to NE 148th Avenue to avoid detours through lengthy residential streets and much better access to Glendoveer walking and tennis/golf courses, places of worship and elementary schools. And easier access to Gilsan for quicker access to Portand downtown. Opening up NE 148th also quickens access to businesses on Sandy and Airport Way. Will be a nightmare due to PBOTs unwillgnesz to open NE 148th to see and drive into the complex. You have to circle around, get lost and loose your cool to finally find entrance. Then get out your hiking boots since these babies are 3 stories tall with no real privacy.
