Property Ratings at Carmel Park Apartments
I just moved before a week, I started seeing lots of insects from day 1, management doesn’t pickup calls, have to follow up again and again, this is totally unacceptable.
This apartment is only tolerable if you sign a short lease. The walls are very thin. You can hear your neighbors talk and kids screaming all day/night long. If this is your only option, invest in some good headphones. Management is never responsive and never communicates with tenants regarding maintenance issues or construction. Frequent plumbing and hvac issues with hot water and heating. Laundry machines rarely work. Technically good price for the size of the unit, but there are much better options out there.
I've been regretting moving here nearly every day for the last 4 months. I cannot go one day with peace and quiet because of the extra thin ceilings. If your upstairs neighbor has kids, you're out of luck. This place is also low security. They claim to have surveillance but it's virtually inexistent. People have been robbed around us and had their car broken into, then one day at 1:30AM my wife caught someone just about to jump into our patio. They began construction here like 2 months ago and said in a letter that there would be access to the laundry room. That did not happen until weeks later...and only for about 2 or 3 weeks. They have now destroyed the path again without notice and I have to go to another laundry mat...again. We've had issues with hot water twice and repair requests that were ignored. If you're running out of time and options....it could be worse, but if you have the time, look around a bit longer.
I have been living in these apartments for ~5 years and never felt leaving this place. Seen couple of managers who managed this property but current manager is managing it really well. She is trying to keep society safe and clean like never before. These are old apartments and sometimes need more maintenance, I have requested maint* couple of times and she responded reasonably well. I would request management to keep price control a bit, which has gone high in last 2 years specially.
I left Monterey/Carmel apartments for a few reasons but the main cause - “other tenants”. Let’s state the obvious: Monterey and Carmel Apartments are very old buildings and with them came many issues. I had plumbing problems. Toilet backed up. Laundry had NO HOT water, yet they still charged full price to do a wash. Pools were not in the best shape and as of late, they began to charge for water, garbage and sewage. Having said that, every time I had an issue in my unit it was solved very quickly by the new managers of the building - Sabina and her husband. They were cordial, respectful, and always gave me notices before they came into my place to make repairs or any changes. They were also good to my kids but specially Sabina was very sweet to them. I often ran into her while she was either cleaning the windows of the main entrance, vacuuming the hallways, cleaning the tables by the pool area, or cleaning the laundry room. I must confess though that I often felt sad for the hard work she was putting in, which is one of the reasons why I left. Within a couple of hours and often times within 15 minutes of Manager cleaning, these areas were very dirty again and this was due to children running wild sometimes with parents around but most of the time without parental supervision.
I want to share our experience with this apartment's , so that it can help for new tenants who are considering this one. - Very first thing is about onsite manager, her name is Sabina who stays in apartments. She and her husband are very rude. They don't know how to talk and give minimum respect to tenants, when they will go to them for any service/issue. They will not talk they will shout on tenants like on slaves . We stayed in different apartments , but we didn't see this kind of rude attitude manager. - Even they (Sabina and her husband ) shout on kids for simple simple things , if you ask any kid in apartment complex you will get to know about them . Even we won't shout on our kids at our home but they will shout on them so badly. - They didn't have any Maintenance service portal to request maintenance issue's , we have to call or text to Sabina. Upon requesting by texting or calls at least she won't acknowledge or call back . We have to follow up several times to fix simple maintenance issue's. - From the cleaning point , they won't maintain clean especially swimming pools they won't clean up regularly. And always half of the washing machines won't work. - Recently Management started charging Utilities extra , and they are not charging amount equally among the apartments . For few of them getting very less bills and few them are getting very high in range from $85 to $170, even though for same no of persons staying in apartment. When we ask them about this , we didn't got proper answer . And Management told to ask Utilities Billing Company who are charging , when we ask them they told that need to check with your management about master bill details. - And one more important things Please read all terms and conditions line by line and don't sign like in other apartments. They offer lower price while leasing to fill vacant apartments soon, but they can increase or add anything before lease term. When apartment tour she will talk very polite and more respectable .Once you sign the lease then only you will know their real behavior .Don't get into their trap. By experienced all above things we recently vacated and moved . One Star review is also more for this complex.
If you don't want peace of mind, you can sign on lease in this apartment. Two stupid people are managing Carmel park and Monterey park apartment. Kids should not play inside apartment. If they play, they shout at them and parents. Poor maintenance..I would say no maintenance at all. Washer and drier won't work most of the time. If it is working, it stops in between. You have to change the machine but no guaranty, that machine works. Have to waste time, money, no peace of mind. We have to go to public washer and drier most of the time. Pools are just for name sack, they are dirty and no one swim in that. No cleaning at all. I have never seen cleaning pools. If kids swim in that, they will definitely get skin allergies. If any repair work is there, they won't do it. They are saying some story and keep postponing. Instead of helping tenant, they are very rude at tenant if we report some problem. Basically, you should not report any issues and any maintenance issues. If you report, they won't take those are requests from tenant, they will treat that, something we are complaining. It's tenant responsibility, if something is required or some maintenance issue is reported, it's management responsibility to fix and make tenant live happily here. Most of the time missing packets, breaking mail boxes and steeling stuff from mail boxes. When you complain, no action. They have not even reported to cops. Most of the time, you can see unknown persons walking apartment premises but no action taken. It's very dangerous apartment for tenants to live here. I thought of giving zero star rating to this stupid, waste, irritating, foolish, irresponsible apartment management but there is no option, so chosen 1 rating.
It is no mystery why they don't even have a 1 start rating. Poor maintenance. Noise problem all day (can hear creaking and voices all day). Bad management at the leasing office. They are rude and would blame you for their mistakes. Washing machines / Dryers never work, always stops in between. At least my experience they rip innocent tenants off on the damage deposit and use it as an excuse to do desperately needed normal maintenance on the apartment. I suggest you only rent from them as a last resort, and then think twice even then.
