In 1824, the Marquis de Lafayette -- a key figure in the American Revolution -- visited the United States and was repaid for his help (both military and financial) during the war with money and land. Some of that land was in Florida, and French settlers began to move in -- including Caroline Bonaparte's son, Prince Achille Murat. The neighborhood became known as Frenchtown.
Later, Frenchtown became famous for its jazz music and was an important part of the African-American culture in Tallahassee. As one of the oldest and most historic neighborhoods in the city, Frenchtown offers great views of the city skyline, historic architecture, and proximity to everything Tallahassee has to offer -- including Florida State University, which borders the neighborhood along Tennessee Street.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Campus Row
DO NOT LIVE HERE. IT IS AWFUL. so far we have had: -2 floods from burst pipes, one of which they tried to make us pay for despite us not even being in that area when it burst, all to save some money. To felt as though we were guilty until proven innocent. -My friends apartment here in a different building had a pipe burst in their ceiling that flooded their floor -Another friend, on moving in day, found extensive mold all over her bathroom, so bad they switched her to a different unit -We have had multiple bug infestations, leaving me to find bugs crawling on my in my sleep, in our silverware drawer, out cabinet with out plates/bowls/cups/mugs, and dead bugs lining my bathroom walls. -Our hot water heater broke and we had cold showers for a week an a half. -Our washer and dryer have constant problems. -the emergency line rarely works -I have a mold problem in my bathroom that no matter what I try to do it won’t go away. -A massive fly problem at one point and their is a “unfixable” gap in our front door that lets additionally bugs in (separate from the other bug infestations that can through cracks in walls, possibly vents, and windows). -We live near one of the 3 building that burnt down, and the construction is unbearably loud. I get horrible headaches due to them and there is not much I can do. I often hear conversations, their loud music, and the banging even with airpods in on noise cancellation. I WOULD NEVER HAVE LIVED HERE IF I KNEW HOW IT OUT BE. And from friend’s accounts, they wish they hadn’t either. My roommate is also trying to get out of his lease, with the same insane fee of around $3,250. We feel unsafe by the homeless people that come to our doors occasionally, the fire that occurred, and much much more. Should anybody from campus row attempt to desperately de-credit our experience, which i would not be surprised by, we have a 10+ page document of evidence. I assume there will be a reply along the lines of “we are so sorry you have been dissatisfied, but everything is fine now!” After speaking with many representatives at campus row, I can assure this is not this case.

Since the management change in 2022, life here has been so much better. I have lived here for 4 years and I am pleased with the new management and office staff. The apartments are stylish. I love the pool! Cannot wait to continue my stay here at Campus Row!

Roach infested unit, maintenance is awful, paid for renovations and got a dirty, rundown apartment

DO NOT SIGN WITH INDIGO ROW. They take advantage of college students. When we moved in, the carpets were extremely dirty. We complained and they said they would clean it but only if we moved all of our large furniture out of the apartment (after we had just moved in). We declined, and they offered us a discount on our rent that month in lieu of the carpet cleaning. However after we moved out, they charged us additional money (more than the rent discount) because the carpets were dirty! Additionally, they straight up lied and said we didn't return our keys. Then they hounded us and stuck a debt collector on us when we refused to pay their ridiculous fees. DO NOT SIGN a lease with this shady company.
I have lived here for almost 3 years now, and I am disappointed with staff as of recently. The new management company that has taken over is such a headache. I feel as though the staff are severely untrained and are not very helpful when I have a problem. I do like the new assistant manager that over sees the office; she is very straight forward and works with you to the best of her ability. My one major complaint would be their irregular office hours. There are hours posted on the door, yet most times these are not followed. I do hope they improve this place soon. I used to love living here.
The location is unbeatable, especially if your classes are on the east side of campus. Its less than a 5-minute walk to get to certain buildings. It's also only a block away from the Strip if that's your thing. However, management is pretty low quality, but most student housing landlords are in Tallahassee. They take forever to finish work requests, and sometimes completely ignore them. Their office hours are random too so you never know when they're going to be there. They have times listed on the website, but they don't stick to them. They also sold some of the parking spots in the lot to the apartments across the street, so its can be hard to find a spot by your apartment now (however parking comes free, so that's a plus). They are trying to make the place look nicer though and have been doing renovations throughout the year. I haven't had any problems with bugs or any other sort of infestation and the grounds are always clean. I haven't ever felt unsafe here or around here, but you'll definitely pass some homeless people walking to class just because of the neighbourhood, but they're harmless. They have individual leases so you won't be stuck with your roommates rent if they bail, which is definitely a plus. They also lower rent and offer other incentives if they don't fill up their units close to the start of the school year, so you may want to wait and try to get a deal. Their prices are pretty typical for non-luxury student housing though.
I have had a consistent negative experience at The Savannahs. When I moved in, the past tenant was still there. The apartment was dirty and not cleaned by staff for over a week. The furnished apartment has damaged furniture that management has not replaced despite complaint. Maintenance issues are not addressed, and if addressed, not in a timely manner. During Hurricane Hermine, a dead tree on the property fell into my apartment bedroom. Many of my things were destroyed, and management has not reimbursed me nor did they address the issue in a timely manner. It took over two months for the apartment to be repaired – with debris and water damage unaddressed. Management has been unprofessional, disorganized, and uncommunicative. The rent is relatively cheap, and the location is a great distance to campus, but not worth the headache of management.
I have lived here for almost a year now and I will be staying for next year. The staff and new manager are great and they always do special events for residents, like food! The price is good and its close enough to campus to walk.
This is an extremely convenient location, but the office staff is completely incompetent, maintenance requests just disappear, it's a sketchy area, and I honestly wish I hadn't lived there for 2 years.
